ALPHA DATA & CORE Engineering Consultancy L.L.C

Customer challenge

CORE Engineering Consultancy provide a wide range of Services in the fields of Architecture, Roads, and Infrastructure in the UAE.

CORE Engineering Consultancy L.L.C. (CORE) was established in 2007 with a focus on providing Engineering Consultancy Services for special projects covering Roads, Infrastructure, Master planning, Airports, Hotels and Bridges for public and private sectors.

Project goals

  • To complete high value projects.
  • To have in-house expertise in delivering projects to clients in BIM, considering Abu Dhabi Municipality’s recent transition determination to only accept submissions for review in BIM Format.
  • Using advance technologies and software which can save them time and costs also helping in streamlining their workflow.

Solution

  • CORE needed to implement and use software with BIM capability like the Autodesk AEC Collection, Civil 3D, and InfraWorks.
  • The main focus is to transition from a CAD drafting workflow to a BIM Modeling workflow using the Infrastructure industry-specific AEC Collection software package.
  • The new project workflow will incorporate all the relevant teams within CORE’s in house design head office to streamline project commencement, progress and delivery.
  • Training on the use of BIM software and process.
  • To create standards and documentation which should be developed in respect to client and authority requirements to deliver projects in the format required.
  • To assign BIM managers and Modeling experts who can guide the team.
  • In addition to training the design team, the executive management, project managers and business development team should get training on the BIM workflow and the general best practices to be fluent in the same design language as the rest of the team to improve project communications and knowledge transfer.

Business outcome

  • The Engineering team will be able to work in a more coordinated and collaborative process to deliver projects on time while helping to reduce errors.
  • The new workflow will be more iterative and enable to make quick changes with less effort than before.
  • Having the expertise, they will be able to bid for high value complex projects.
  • Following a BIM workflow and collaborated model sharing will help them reduce costs and time.

Conclusion

  • CORE needs to implement the Autodesk BIM 360 platform, start using the AEC Collection, Civil 3D, Infraworks, and BIM-capable software.
  • CORE deployed a training program using the CAD models and software.
  • Create a BIM workflow specific to their organizations with standards and documentation.
  • For an initial period they would require guidance and support in hand-holding BIM specific projects once they complete the project using BIM workflow
