From the second half of 2022 the company started an innovation path of digitalization and enhancement of processes according to Industry 4.0 point of view. Their effort are aimed at data management & CAM renovation.

DATA MANAGEMENT

The company needed to optimizing Tech Dept. workflow (data search, re-use of existing data, secure engineering data) They already use Autodesk Inventor/PD&M Collection for their engineering projects.

CAM

Mario Cotta – Zincometal Group already used FeautureCAM software (since it had not yet been acquired by Autodesk) in Production Dept. running on old systems machine that needed to be updated. Costs related to this update with the old CAM System were very high, despite their needs (only three axes). They were searching for a cheaper solution, however between Autodesk portfolio.

Project goals

Main goals of the project:

  • Optimize costs and time and reuse of engineering data for different projects
  • Standardization of software and application to all Company workspaces
  • Updating CAM systems with cost containment and integration with Autodesk solution used in Tech. Dept.
  • Control of changes and updates of projects in Production Dept.

Solution

As for every Data Management Project Implementation, we started with an analysis of existing workflows and processes in Tech Dept, highlighting pro and con, some points that need to be enhanced and good ones. We purpose Autodesk Vault Professional as data management software and some Systema Vault APP Plug-in to amplify Vault functionalities and features. We defined all the implementation steps: the project is still in process (we are in ERP connection phase).

For CAM solutions, we suggested Fusion 360 (it completely satisfies their needs), after a trial period and verifying that post-processor was good for customer machine.

Business outcome

The customer, Mario Cotta Zincometal Group Spa, is well satisfied about Systema services and methodology for implementing PDM solution. Customer is also well satisfied about CAM solution, as for lower costs, as for interoperability with Inventor through Fusion 360, using cloud to upload changed projects and sharing them with Tech. Department.

Conclusion

The long-term partnership between Zincometal Group Spa and Systema has led to a relationship based on trust and collaboration. Thanks to the professional advice of the Systema staff, it's always possible to identify the best solutions for the customer needs, starting a process of continuous improvement built on the adoption of new digital solutions.
