Conducting Advanced VFX Workflows with Autodesk ShotGrid in ORKA Postproduction Studio

Conducting Advanced VFX Workflows with Autodesk ShotGrid in ORKA Postproduction Studio

ORKA Postproduction Studio, known for VFX on Rambo V: Last Blood and Infinity Storm movies, is a Central Europe-based post-production facility located in Warsaw. It has its origins in the late '90s, starting with the first generations of VFX Flame/Smoke online systems and 35mm telecine services. Today, the company employs over 70 artists and producers, delivering a complete set of post-production solutions, including on-set and virtual set services, offline suites, sound postproduction, several specialized VFX departments (composition, 2D, 3D, AI), colour grading rooms, and a reference laser cinema hall for screening, supported by DI specialists. The highest quality is delivered with an elastic and agile approach as a standard package.“Besides art and craft, three important factors need to be maintained regarding this type of business,” says Marek Subocz, head of VFX at ORKA Postproduction Studio.  “The first is communication: communication on all stages and with all participants—clients, internal teams, and external cooperation entities—in a standardized, reliable, and fast manner way. The second factor, related to the artistic domain and its specifics, is automation. Task repetitions and human errors consume time and money, directly affecting revenue. Starting with naming conventions, through versioning to publishing and archiving—all of it, or most of it, should be, one way or another, automated. The last factor is real-time project tracking, a picture of the current project's state, simply helping to manage and deliver” - Marek explains.Concerning the complexity of post-production workflows, the pace of changes, and the multitude of tools, it’s quite hard to imagine a platform that may manage all of it and simply provide productivity of this type while being completely open to free customization. And this is what ORKA Postproduction Studio needed - a highly advanced, properly supported, and flexible platform for TV & Film post-production project management.

AddMan: A non-standard approach and easier prototyping with Fusion 360

AddMan: A non-standard approach and easier prototyping with Fusion 360

AddMan is a small design office based in Wrocław. The company deals with rapid prototyping, 3D printing and reverse engineering. The services provided by AddMan include preparing 2D and 3D documentation of parts and prototypes, preparing visualizations and preliminary simulations of mechanical parts of products.Due to the specificity of the industry in which AddMan operates, implemented projects often require a non-standard approach and the creation of a number of prototypes. 2D documentation at AddMan is prepared mainly as a supplement to visualization and 3D documentation, but it is also prepared for the subsequent production of details on a laser plotter (cutting and engraving parts, mainly steel and PMMA plates).

Creative Planet: production of multi-award-winning immersive fulldome films based on M&E Collection

Creative Planet: production of multi-award-winning immersive fulldome films based on M&E Collection

Creative Planet - an award-winning studio that creates immersive fulldome films and VR animations - bases its production process on programs from the M&E Collection.Creative Planet, is a studio that specializes in creating immersive fulldome films and VR animation. This specific direction has its roots in... planetariums! Sound intriguing? The team originated from the Warsaw planetarium at the Copernicus Science Center. It was here that they worked on their first joint projects, and it was here that the direction for creating their animation was born.Creative Planet is a team of several people. Although small, it is extremely interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial. The proof? With a team of 7, they created a 40-minute animated film with 5 characters in about 2 years, meeting technical requirements exceeding even IMAX standards. A result no worse than that of a major animation film studio. The bar is further raised by the need to use a fisheye spherical camera, the need to model the space omnidirectionally, not just seen in a narrow frame, and the problematic nature of previewing the finished animation, especially at 1:1 scale. The studio is one of the few companies on the European and even worldwide market that creates such interesting animations at the highest level. This is evidenced by more than a dozen industry awards that Creative Planet has won over the years. Their films are translated into various languages, and their animations also go beyond planetarium screens. For example, at Expo 2020 in Dubai, you could experience their work in the Polish pavilion, where they prepared an interactive experience of our nature and landscapes for visitors.
