Description

This class takes you through an example workflow for a road and highway design project using Infrastructure Design Suite Ultimate 2014 software. We start with InfraWorks™ software for the conceptual and preliminary design phases. InfraWorks 360™ is used to perform vertical optimization of the road design. Then it is moved into AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software for the detailed design and construction documentation phases. Next, we take the design into Navisworks® Manage software to perform clash detections and validate the design components coming from Revit® Structure software and Civil 3D. Finally, the design goes back into InfraWorks and into 3ds Max® Design software to perform visual communication about the design to key stakeholders. Various types of analysis is performed along the way to validate the design and ensure design parameters are being met.

Key Learnings

  • Sketch layouts and create engineered roads of the proposed design in InfraWorks
  • Create detailed design drawings inside Civil 3D
  • Analyze the design in InfraWorks and Navisworks Manage
  • Communicate the design visually with InfraWorks and 3ds Max Design
