The model can have many downstream uses, but for it to be of value, the model itself must be prepped and the rich data within organized. Model-based technology can virtually identify and eliminate clashes. Unfortunately, that doesn't always translate to accurate, conflict-free layouts on the jobsite, especially when done separately by each trade contractor. New research from Dodge Construction Network shows that this traditional noncollaborative approach to jobsite layout is inherently inefficient, and frequently generates cross-trade conflicts and construction errors that cause multiple quality, safety, productivity, cost, and schedule issues. The research further shows that more-coordinated and collaborative multitrade processes greatly improve outcomes for everyone involved, especially when taking advantage of exciting new automation technologies that use model data.

Claims and disputes are common. However legal fees and arbitration/litigation costs involved in pursuing claims can put businesses under immense financial strain. This is particularly true when records are unclear or onerous to work with. Where evidence is unclear, the time and cost involved in resolving disputes can skyrocket. For instance, we will show you the vast improvements we've made, including new Civil 3D objects, interoperability with Civil 3D, clash detection, and the enormous improvements with flexible reporting. In this session, we'll explore how InfoDrainage transforms drainage design workflows and optimizes stormwater management. Attendees will learn to integrate InfoDrainage into project workflows, enhancing collaboration and streamlining processes. Our expertise will guide participants in using InfoDrainage for time-saving Civil 3D interoperability, cost reduction via design logic switching, improved outcomes with clash detection, and compliance assurance through design auditing and reporting.

On rail infrastructure projects, consultants provide tunnel ring models for entire alignment, created using a two-point adaptive family based on the track center point via Dynamo. But these models lack detailed tunnel features—segmentation and dimple holes. Coordination with stakeholders requires complete tunnel models with segmentation and dimple holes. We must develop this detailed model to accurately place services brackets along the tunnel. The ring comprises eight segments, including a key segment with a varying location. A family of these segments, with a rotation parameter set by the tunnel's center point, is essential. Our process involves deriving the tunnel's center from track center points using geometric translations. Dynamo makes placement points for adaptive components. The angle of rotation is recorded on the site for the key segment in XYZ, and we develop construction model using that data. This construction model aids subcontractor in accurate service modeling.

El Corte Inglés, Spain's largest department store chain and one of the biggest real estate owners in Europe, has digitized 3,7M+ sqm of their portfolio. Point clouds, Revit and ACC were the main tools used. This session will show the process and learnings of this experience and the improvements made after two years of continued efforts. They include a content library on Unifi to manage 21.000+ families widely used across 100+ assets' models, establishing a BIM office that uses Docs, Design Collaboration and Model Coordination to review and validate models, and devising strategies to bring models from previous stages up to the latest standards. Beyond digitization efforts, the session will also present how the models are being put to use for many purposes and their applications for even more: store renovation projects, quantities extraction and cost control, fittings capacity control studies, area related applications, construction stage… as well as the technologies for each of them.

Public services englobe many different areas of action that must offer efficient services for citizens without wasting money. Therefore, tasks that involve construction, and their maintenance, might need a special approach, as usually a lot of money is required. We will explain how we changed methods and even cultural patterns to keep buildings in a highly useful condition and reach low or better-planned costs. Our case study documents an existing building that was not built by any governmental institution; as a result, no technical documentation or registers of the construction were found. The challenge of our study is decoding the existing construction and its installations—and how it has been used and damaged over time—by using Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection tools. As the technical team searches for hidden details on the construction, to collect data on the building, we can improve our work strategy in a collaborative environment and have more-effective results for management decisions.
