"The design and construction process today generates valuable information. But the sheer number of sources, systems, tools and players complicates workflows and creates inefficiencies by generating duplicate data in silo-ed workflows. JE Dunn has been able to integrate various disparate platforms and develop a 'single source of truth', for their entire ecosystem. This single source of truth, called Dunn Dashboard, leverages Autodesk Forge. Forge has enabled JE Dunn to aggregate data in one place, connect and streamline business processes and workflows, improve the quality of efficiency by breaking down silos of data - all with power of connected data.

In this class, you will learn in details about various Construction workflows at JE Dunn and how the Autodesk technology stack, including Forge, is transforming the company culture byproviding access todata as a ubiquitous asset for project stakeholders, business drivers and key decision makers. (Joint AU/Forge DevCon class)."

As an engineering firm, how do you implement PlanGrid in a department where the vast majority of projects are small, and the general contractor is not using any of these tools? We had to tweak and adjust what seems to be the intended use of PlanGrid to match our needs. We had our road map all plan for and then Covid sent all of our employees home. It forced us to reconsider our entire approach of deployment and management. At the end of the day, using tablets with PlanGrid allowed us to maintain business continuity while keeping our staff safe as they didn’t have to go to the office and plot drawings.

Not everyone is aware of all of the associated risks and hazards that are involved with complicated construction operations—even the professionals who perform those tasks every day. Special training is required before commencing this type of challenging and potentially dangerous work. This is where BIM aids in communication and training in a safe environment. BIM safety models can present both correct and incorrect practices side-by-side for comparison. This class focuses on how models can be developed and used to explain safety hazards and procedures in a safe virtual environment. It shows how BIM tools such as Revit®-based software, Navisworks® Manage, 3ds Max®, and other modeling tools can greatly enhance communication and even help identify common, complex, and unique safety issues. These models can then be taken out into the field using Autodesk tools, such as the Inventor Publisher mobile app, and referenced on tablets, iPads®, and other mobile devices. Continue the discussion by signing up for CR2792-R Visual Planning: BIM for Safety-The Roundtable Session.

Navisworks project review software has a set of powerful coordination tools. What it lacks is a strong set of collaboration tools, which are essential in the multidisciplinary coordination process. Enter the Cloud Solutions. Combining what is good about both worlds creates effortless coordination that includes no more file shuffling and provides powerful version control and access control. This class will cover key workflows that assist in the use of the Cloud Solutions and automation of the Clash Detective process, as well as enable an increase in communication and collaboration.

Using project examples, this class will address the use of multiple software applications as a workflow, dealing with multiple clients and users—all of whom are collaborating and coordinating on large-scale buildings in one complex. The class will cover how we implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) from 3D through 6D for design, coordination, simulation, estimating, and facilities management. We will discuss techniques used by the team to streamline the design process, program settings we used to facilitate BIM use in the construction phase, 4D simulations, visualization of building interfaces, BIM-integrated estimating processes and procedures, and BIM-integrated facilities management.

This class is about showing how it is possible to work with mechanical softwares, which at the first impression seem incompatible with Revit or other to do correct 3D coordination, and to produce effectively 2D plans without geometry limitation. It will be based on the case-study of a construction project of a hydroelectric pumping station located in Morroco with a contract of 284 millions euros. The content of this class will demonstrate and share the practical solution that could be applied in any industrial construction projects.

This class will show how Building Information Modeling (BIM) is used to help coordinate construction of a complex intersection of a utility tunnel in China. Animations were made to show the removal of the existing pipelines, the traffic control, and the construction sequence of the utility tunnel. Project scheduling management, hazard identification, and quality control using BIM were also carried out. Through this class, attendees will get a taste of BIM implementation in China.

This presentation follows the 76 11th Avenue Towers project from concept through construction, tracking how designers adapted design and delivery tools over time to meet the particular demands of each project phase and each team's workflow culture. Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Woods Bagot-the project's design architect and architect of record, respectively-entered into a collaborative design-assist process for the towers' facades that included owners, contractors, engineers, and fabricators. This close collaboration on the design and delivery of a geometrically complex signature building required significant attention to communication and collaboration processes, and was centered around an information-rich model that stakeholders could access as needed. Ultimately, this case study suggests the need for broader industry changes beyond technical workflow issues-such as improved integrated contracts and more expansive Building Information Modeling (BIM) execution plans.

This class will be all about Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows involving Revit software, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) Fabrication Solutions, cloud-based coordination, and overall BIM 360 Docs software to secure a high level of collaboration. In this class, we'll present a seamless workflow from the design-intent model to detailed modeling and construction documents. We intend to highlight how all MEP construction actors can capitalize on BIM information and efficiently collaborate all along the project to build better. MEP engineers, contractors, detailers, fabricators-all of them will contribute to this BIM workflow by using, each of them, dedicated products. They will share data, review, annotate, comment, download, modify, update and so on, collaborating on the project thanks to BIM 360 Docs.

This session is about the new BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflow for bridge design with InfraWorks software, Inventor software, Civil 3D software, Revit software, and Structural Bridge Design software. InfraWorks has become the Autodesk center tool for bridge design in realistic contexts. You can easily and quickly design any bridge proposition. Structural parts of the bridge are automatically predesigned according to each span. With InfraWorks, you can perform line girder analysis in the cloud. You can download the structural analysis file to perform structural analysis with Structural Bridge Design. Customized parametric bridge parts can be created and modified with Inventor and added in InfraWorks. This workflow gives a lot of freedom to create any kind of bridge. Civil 3D will help optimize alignment and profile earthworks and gradings. You can send InfraWorks bridge to Revit with a BIM dynamic link. You can design reinforcement in Revit and create shop drawings. Tunnels can be designed with a similar BIM workflow. Come and see what you can do!

This class is for anyone who is currently using Building Information Modeling (BIM) or intends to utilize it on large-scale projects in the future. This will be immensely helpful, inspirational, and thought provoking for owners and all stakeholders to make the best utilization of BIM on large-scale projects.

This class will introduce concepts that will help you creatively capitalize on your Revit software data with the Dynamo visual programming language extension. The Dynamo extension enables users with powerful data-mining capabilities through a graphical user interface. These capabilities, once only available to Revit software API experts, have made it easier to get to your Revit software data, to manipulate it, and to stream it to many external sources. The class will introduce key concepts for accessing, formatting, and sharing Revit software model data using the Dynamo extension and packages such as LunchBox and Slingshot.

This class will provide an in-depth discussion of best practices for building a design model for use in both 2D construction documentation and 3D trade coordination. As more projects are designed in 3D from the beginning, architectural, structural, and other trade models can be used by MEP designers when laying out their systems. We will address the how and why of making a model for both documentation creation and 3D coordination in step-by-step descriptions of best practices based on real-world examples where this workflow has been successful. The class will also include a handout that describes the Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination process and lists best practices for designers who are interested in providing coordination as a service to the construction team.

Emerging technologies—such as augmented reality (AR), reality capture, and wearable technology—are reducing project costs, improving communication and collaboration with remote teams, and letting us experience information in a way never possible before. In this presentation, we’ll share experiences from a large natural- and built-asset firm regarding how we’re using AR to deliver enhanced value to our clients in multiple ways: 1) on-site, full-scale AR design visualization; 2) 360-degree reality capture; and 3) hands-free remote communication and documentation. Attendees will learn the workflows for each application and value captured by clients and staff. Our examples will include integrations with Revit software, Navisworks software, and BIM 360 software, and we’ll examine use of hardware and software like Microsoft HoloLens, RealWear HMT-1, 360-degree cameras, VisualLive, Librestream Onsight Connect, and HoloBuilder.

We all have to deal with content. Some are well versed in creating item (ITM) content. Others find it confusing and complicated. This lab will speak to both audiences with a different twist on content. We will not cover creating from scratch content that fits nicely and neatly in your database configuration. Instead, we'll show you how to take someone else's content and hack it into your configuration without destroying your database integrity. After all, it's not always about building the content—rather, it can be about getting it done quickly to keep production moving. We'll also show how you can easily scale content creation to multiple users in a safe manner while keeping everyone on the same page with your configuration approach. Lastly, we'll show you how you can distribute your content into other configurations, as well as (QA/QC) your work. In short, if you want to learn not just how to create content but manage it, this lab is for you. This session features Fabrication CADmep and Revit MEP. AIA Approved

This class will focus on the acronym CREW, which has four keys areas of bringing BIM (Building Information Modeling) and virtual design and construction (VDC) to the field teams. BIM/VDC has been established with our teams in the jobsite trailers, but getting it to the people in the field has always been a struggle. We’ll focus on what’s been helpful for our teams so that you can use the same lessons with your teams. The four areas of CREW are the following: collaborate, research, engage, and work. Taking from what we’ve learned in our process, we’ll go through the different steps, discuss the pieces that usually get missed, and expand on the areas that were helpful and successful. Join me so that all of our field teams can step into fully embracing how BIM/VDC can improve their lives and help them be more successful.

MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) services are often considered by most in the construction industry to be a means to an end, restricting architectural and structural creativity. MEP services, however, are the lifeblood of a building and are fundamentally the main source of pain for facility managers. This class will focus on managing MEP data propagation from design concept through to facilities management, identifying the importance of MEP systems completion and appropriate assignment right through to addition of data to components at the various phases of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) delivery. This class will capitalize on an array of Autodesk, Inc., technologies, including Revit software, Navisworks Manage software, and BIM 360 software. For anyone involved in the MEP and construction industries, this class is a must as an aid in understanding the end goals for model handover and also the benefits to each project stakeholder at each BIM delivery phase.

The Innovative Construction Solutions (ICS) Team at Skanska USA Building recently implemented BIM 360 Ops software for one of Skanska's commercial development clients to facility manage a newly constructed luxury condominium residential tower in Boston, Massachusetts. This particular client also requested model visualization to complement the mobile-first work order management capabilities of BIM 360 Ops, and required that the ICS Team partner with Autodesk to develop an API integration between BIM 360 Ops and its existing tenant concierge software platform. In this class, ICS Team members who worked on this project will share the lessons they learned and the workflow they developed using Revit software, Navisworks software, BIM 360 Glue software, BIM 360 Field software, and BIM 360 Ops.

We will discuss a design-build project to show our Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow and the best available tools to address the project's specific needs.
