TORUS ROBOTICS EXPERIENCE OF VAULT

TORUS ROBOTICS EXPERIENCE OF VAULT

Customer challenge

Torus Robotics' Vignesh M, Abbhi Vignesh K, and Vibhakar Senthil, three dedicated and creative engineers, founded the company in 2019. Its first project is with the Department of Defense, to develop an unmanned ground vehicle with a robotic arm for IED detection and removal. This initiative helped the team gain attention as a fresh start-up. Torus Robotics has already demonstrated its strength, and as it expands, its entire potential becomes more apparent. The Torus Robotics' product design strategy is based on 3D modelling and 2D documentation, with Autodesk Vault managing the data and serving as the foundation for cooperation between design and manufacturing.

Project goals

Whether the design is a new vehicle or an extension of a current platform, the process begins when the team begins rough modelling. At this step, the team prepares broad arrangement drawings that depict how the product will look and behave, including rough simulations of how steep a gradient it can traverse and how many passengers it can transport. When the concept is accepted for development, the team uses the Autodesk Vault 3D model to add additional detail and identify where each item sits in the assembly.

Solution

Torus Robotics starts working with fabricators to produce a prototype that can be tested and analysed further. This initiates the revision process, which is logged in Autodesk Vault. Finally, if the Torus Robotics engineers a part, it is immediately released in Vault and transferred to the company's ERP system. If modifications or difficulties surface later, the team can put that section on hold in the ERP system, resulting in a change order.

Business outcome

Autodesk Vault allows the design and production teams to monitor updates to current designs at the same time. Vault has also provided the team with a feasible solution to eliminate paper fully across the design, engineering, and production workflows, as the platform allows customers to easily control and restrict access to the needed data.

"Vault is really essential to us," adds Mr. Vignesh.

Conclusion

"The ability to handle our goods and all of the information associated with each item is tremendously helpful."

Integration of Client Electronic Database Management system (EDMS) files with Forge Viewer.

L&T Construction unit has been using a EDMS for managing engineering drawings and for product data management. In that users are facing difficulties while marking up comments on the engineering drawings with lot of manual intervention. Also they face difficulty in comparing two 2D drawings / 3D Model to find the changes in revisions When coming into marking up of drawings, currently users need to download each and individual drawing from EDMS and take a print out and manually work on the markup to review and update their comments on the drawing file. Due to this difficulties, client consumed a lot of man hours and also manual checking process is tedious and cost consuming. Also in comparison of two drawings, users are comparing drawings in two tabs or two monitors. Comparing virtually will gets lot of errors and time consumption. Many time this process results in lots of human errors which results in rework and cost consuming
