This class will cover a concept design workflow using Alias Create VR software, Alias subdivision, Alias detailing, and VRED visualization techniques.

This class will be aimed at advanced architectural visualizers who want to go beyond the photoreal into more stylistic artistic methods of visualization. We will take attendees through the entire creation process of a uniquely made image that combines digital painting techniques and collage; 3ds Max software features like camera mapping, projection, and perspective match; and environment fog and rendering setup in Chaos Group's V-Ray rendering engine. The techniques and methodologies shown in this class will have a multitude of alternative applications across architectural visualization and concept design. We will divide the talk into 3 subchapters, which include research/collage (10 minutes)—collecting images, assembling collage, and painting; scene setup (45 minutes)—using 3ds Max software to re-create our photo in 3D using perspective match and projections, relight, model details, and render; and post production (15 minutes)—using Adobe Photoshop to color correct, utilize V-Ray passes, and paint further details.

Come to this class to learn how you can use an engineering-based generative design tool for concept development. Autodesk Fusion 360 is consistently growing in popularity as a hard modeler for production/concept design. The combination of generative design and exploration of the form tool (T-spline modeling) can yield diverse results. In addition, generative design can produce a wide range of models with different manufacturing and material properties. Each result can be adjusted for density and then modified with the form tool and/or solid/surface modification. As a bonus, there are mesh tolls for added modification and combination with additional data sources.

In this class we will cover multiple workflow paths, moving Alias SpeedForm conceptual data and evolving it into technically clean surfaces in Alias software. Starting with the Alias SpeedForm model, we will investigate what it looks like and the pros and cons of using this data directly. Then we will look at techniques to augment the data to cleaner surfaces. Finally we will use mesh-modeling techniques to work off the shape. One of the techniques we will use is scan data workflow. Students will gain a better practical understanding of how to move Alias SpeedForm data into Alias software.

In this session we demonstrate how Spacemaker can be leveraged to quickly kick-off a project and validate design decisions. Saving you time and effort, we’ll demonstrate the ideal workflow to combine the strengths of Spacemaker and Revit. From project setup and validating concept proposals using Spacemaker's user friendly analysis tools we'll give you a thorough beginners guide to get you started in the software. We'll wrap up the session with a demo of the Revit add in to easily migrate your proposals to Revit for further design development. Need to tweak your proposals - we'll show how to migrate your proposal back into Spacemaker for further analysis.

The session will present concept design development workflow for industrial designers with Fusion 360 software quick Sculpt and Solid Modeling, plus Rendering. We will also mix with Physical Sketching on Wacom Tablet. The class is about introducing new early design iteration process with Fusion 360 software for industrial designers. Traditionally, designers start sketching when they’ve received overall goal/direction for the product. This class suggests that designers mix quick 3D modeling with their traditional sketching workflow. For example, Fusion 360 software has super-flexible Sculpt Modeling, and it takes just a few minutes to generate basic forms. Designers can start their sketches over these basic product forms and find balance and details based on real scale. This session features Fusion 360 and SketchBook Pro.

This class will show attendees how to use the Fusion 360 3D CAD design app in the process that starts with designing concept models and ends with manufacturing ready parts.

This unique class will review key workflows required to go from concept design proposals to detailed design cost estimates. Our mission is to create 2 concept-level designs for a new municipal spine roadway and trunk sewer and compare the cost of works for each scenario. We will start with a detailed look at InfraWorks 360 software and demonstrate the workflows required to build our 2 new proposals. Then we will connect our concept-level design to AutoCAD Civil 3D software to detail the roadway and sewer designs. We will look at the various quantity takeoff tools found in AutoCAD Civil 3D software and export both AutoCAD software and AutoCAD Civil 3D object data to formats that you can use for estimating. To complete the class we will introduce a new cloud-based cost-estimating system called AEC Tender. Using AEC Tender, we can connect to data extracted from our detailed design and generate detailed cost estimates for both scenarios within minutes using past project construction unit costs.

This class will cover how we used InfraWorks software in conjunction with AutoCAD Civil 3D software, ReCap software, and Inventor software to carry out the concept design for an innovative new transportation system in the United Arab Emirates. You will learn how we used reality capture methods such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to produce digital terrain and surface models from photos, and how we mapped the existing road layout and topography using laser scans as well as ground-penetrating radar for underground utilities to construct a digital model of the proposed system alignment in InfraWorks. It will also cover how the information was brought in using other Autodesk products, such as ReCap for the point cloud capture, AutoCAD Civil 3D for the utilities, and Inventor to create parametric bridge objects for use in InfraWorks as the unique support structure for the transportation system. Also, we'll demonstrate how we were able to bring all the above together to provide the client with the assurance that the system would work and fit the site aesthetics with confidence.

The goal is to build a construction history that works on various polygon inputs, and creates complex buildings without any further user input. This solution is used in the video-game industry and the film/TV industry for automated generation of environments, as well as for concept design and visualization in architecture.

With the housing crisis in the UK and calls to �Modernise or Die' to the housebuilding sector, there's a need and a will to move to more digitised workflows. This session will cover some of the many ways housebuilders and residential construction can change their approach from concept design, through planning, sales and construction in an effort to become more efficient, provide better options to clients, resulting in earlier sales, and upskill their workforce to deal with the demand for housing that doesn't show signs of slowing down.

Then we will talk about using SketchBook Designer to refine the concept design. Finally, we will examine design rendering. The class will focus on styling and creative conceptual designs, especially early design phases. We will bring a design into final rendering.

Creating these scenes with the help of a UAV is becoming more common as the flying camera UAV craze explodes worldwide. Join Autodesk, Inc.'s, Field Innovation Team members as we discuss some ins and outs of generating precise scenes with the help of a UAV. This session will cover camera equipment and UAVs, and we'll also discuss building custom UAVs, taking pictures from a UAV, processing pictures with Photo on ReCap software, breaking larger scenes up into smaller samples, and combining the results into AutoCAD Civil 3D software or InfraWorks software.

The new home for the Seattle Opera is set on a prominent civic corner just blocks away from the Space Needle, and was driven by a mission: to engage the community with the creativity and drama of making opera. The main concept for the building's façade to act as a theatrical "scrim" prompted the team to use a parameter-driven process. Learn how the team used design computation from concept to construction, using visual programming in Grasshopper software and Dynamo software, and implementing an interoperability workflow using flux to automate a series of Revit adaptive components. Computational iterations early on established a foundation for what would evolve into a powerful user-driven toolset, with parameters built in at multiple scales-from controlling the overall formal geometry, to instantiating different connection types at individual panels.
