If you want to learn more about how to use visual, generative, artificial intelligence (AI) tools in your workflows, then this class is for you. Regardless of their industry, artists and designers are discovering the advantages of an AI-powered workflow, making their processes faster, and allowing them to iterate over their products in ways that wouldn't have been possible or cost-effective before. We'll examine and cover the strengths and weaknesses of different tools, such as Midjourney, Dall-E, Stable Diffusion, and some plug-ins for Revit software. Most importantly, we'll go over use cases for different industries that go beyond simple text prompting to give artists and designers more control over finished products. We'll showcase how we can use generative AI as a powerful visualization tool for creating images and even videos, and how it can help unleash creativity in game design, media, and building design.

The complexities around digital twins are usually enough to make most tech enthusiasts in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries think twice before embarking upon their use. From setting up IoT hubs and sensors to linking them with intelligent models and hosting them in client-facing experiences, the concept can be daunting. However, developments in gaming engines and their innate customization and ability to craft a story and experience mean that they are fast becoming great tools in the creation of digital twins. In this talk, we will look at the steps and stages involved in creating a digital-twin experience using the Unreal Engine game machine, in addition to showcasing industry case studies. We will break down the steps, from linking models from packages such as Revit software and 3ds Max software, to connecting to simple sensor data and visualizing the output. Here we explore the toolset and process required to help you embark on your own first digital twin.

In the environmental industry, there is an ongoing need for analyzing and visualizing subsurface data such as soil and groundwater contamination in correlation with above-ground features to optimize the remediation design and thereby reduce the cost. An idea for a conceptual site model by integrating 3D contaminant plume with the InfraWorks tool has now been achieved to provide comprehensive understanding of a contaminated site. Also, the historical above-ground elements (roads, buildings, and tanks) were digitized using Civil 3D software and recreated using objects available within InfraWorks software. The integrated model was later published in BIM 360 software. A fly-through animated video was also developed in InfraWorks. With the help of Autodesk tools and environment, an idea has now become a reality as this is a powerful way to help client user experiences where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time: clients can literally “see underground” on their sites.

To manage the ever-increasing complexity and collaboration in the creation of physical assets for LAIKA's hybrid stop-motion/CG features, a Shotgun-based integrated browser workflow was developed that enables automated resource leveling and scheduling in a centralized system accessible to the entire studio. Highlights include a new custom charting application that integrates with the existing Shotgun infrastructure, as well as the use of Consilium Technology (recently acquired by Autodesk), a new, machine-learning-based, automated resource-leveling system that effectively balances and assigns resources. Together, they turn a time-consuming and error-prone manual leveling process into a fast and automated procedure that generates an accurate, adjustable, easy-to-communicate schedule.

It's 2023 and you've been wondering "WTF is USD?” You're not alone! Software never stops evolving, and it is easy to feel left behind when new tech enters the scene. Funny enough, that is exactly what USD is aiming to address. USD stands for Universal Scene Description, and it is an open-source initiative, meaning it is being built in a public facing manner, without any single company claiming ownership of its development. Rather, multiple companies share the same vision – a world where sharing production assets among programs is consistent, reliable and easy. In this class you will learn USD's origin, where its currently at in the Media & Entertainment Industry, where it is headed, and how these techniques and technologies add benefit to any industry pipeline.

If you're spending hours bringing your CAD data into VRED software, always applying the same materials, computing light maps, and making it over and over again through the product design cycle, this class is for you. Come and discover how an automated workflow—using VRED and orchestrated by ShotGrid—can save you enormous amounts of time converting, preparing, and updating Alias data (or any other CAD data), and turning it automatically into a ready-to-use aggregated visualization data set, freeing up time for 3D artists to focus on high-value tasks.

The digital creation process has made physical models rare. Today, iterative work around form finding, feature line definition, or design definition convergence has to happen digitally on 2D screens. Imagine if you could connect virtual reality (VR) full-scale visualization in VRED software with 3D modeling workflows in Alias software through custom tools that allow designers to sketch tape lines in VR, giving instant feedback to the 3D modeler in Alias—and use ShotGrid software to capture the sketched tape lines to feed downstream digital-modeling activities. Discover how Autodesk Consulting can help you improve collaborative workflows in your studio, going beyond out-of-the-box product capabilities.
