Description

With the goal of providing the best patient care at lowest cost, Mercy (one of the top five U.S. health systems) selected our Team for Project Delivery. Coupled with traditional A/E Design, we are also in charge of developing and managing VDC workflows aimed at shortening the Schedule, reducing Cost, and optimizing Turn-over. We developed Enhanced Integration (EI), aiming to connect the entire Lifecycle. In addition to managing VDC workflows, EI also includes Asset Data Management, targeting an IWMS (Integrated Workplace Management System) implementation. With more than 2,000 employees across all Mercy support departments using the unified platform, the projected operational savings are staggering. EI has evolved over 3 years and 8 projects totaling more than $500 Million in Construction. This class will focus on best practices for delivering complex healthcare projects and showcase BIM360 Team and Collaboration for Revit as the main tools for connecting the entire Project Team.

Marin Pastar graduated from Drury University in 2005 and became licensed as an architect in 2011. From the beginning of his career in 2004, Pastar has been deeply involved in 3D modeling and visualization with AutoCAD software and 3ds Max software. This evolved into a career-defining turn to Revit software and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Fascinated by BIM compared to traditional project-delivery methods, Pastar was the driving force in evolving the 11-person CAD firm into the growing, multioffice, 80-plus person, virtual design and construction (VDC) firm that Bates & Associates Architects is today. As director of innovation, Pastar is involved in all aspects of projects from design and virtual reality; to streamlining architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) workflows from planning and construction; into facility management and operation. Pastar has been a regular Autodesk University attendee and a Revit Certified Professional since 2012. He has been invited to speak about VDC at several Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and Associated General Contractors (AGC) conferences, as well as at Autodesk University 2015. Ian McGaw has a dual degree in computer science and international business, focusing on the management and research and development of emerging technologies in the AEC/O sector. He is an executive business leader with broad domestic and international experience in identifying strategic and innovative technology solutions to complex business challenges. Ian’s interests, along with years of industry-related experience, have allowed him to understand complex technology process has become an influential factor in the way buildings are delivered all over the world. Ian has experience in the full value chain of project development process, starting from early strategic planning, project planning, business IT innovation strategy and business portfolio management for long term clients all the way to project turn-over. Furthermore, Ian has been invited to speak at numerous conferences (including Autodesk University) upon topics ranging from BIM content to implementation of technology to VDC.
