This presentation will revolve around a large industrial project to demonstrate the data workflow from design through construction, as well as the site data gathering for data visualization. By using the following software platforms—BIM 360 software, Assemble, BIM Track, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Power BI—the information from this project’s different components is visualized and combined in Power BI. Dax and M language in Power BI are utilized to manipulate raw data. Metric-based results in Power BI dashboards are organized tab by tab in accordance with different analytical functionality. We’ll give detailed examples to represent the information cross-referencing between the disciplines. This presentation will help different stakeholders track the progress of projects from qualitative and quantitative perspectives based on locations.

Andrew Cameron, project manager with Hensel Phelps, will share his insights from pioneering 360-degree reality capture on his project, the $1.2 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport, since 2016. He and his team of 16 field engineers have worked closely with HoloBuilder over the last three years to invent and build out many of the workflows and features that are essential on tens of thousands of construction sites around the world today, including 360-degree markups and the JobWalk app itself. He will discuss how to use 360-degree documentation to drive value on a billion-dollar project for the client, stakeholders, and his project team. He will also share his experiences of how to successfully partner with construction technology providers to build the technologies you always wanted. To highlight the team’s successful innovation partnership, he will reveal the latest co-developed solutions to speed up and even automate reality capture on projects.

How can you feel more secure in your choice of technology? Skanska Sweden tried something new in the process of transitioning from BIM 360 to Autodesk Forma. Construction lifecycles are too long for evaluation, so alongside investigations, pretend play, and meetings, Skanska arranged a three-day focused Autodesk Forma Power Pilot together with Autodesk. In this session, Linn Areno from Skanska will join Pontus Bengtson from Autodesk to tell you why they did this and what pros and cons are involved in carrying out a focused Power Pilot. In addition, we'll also talk about how to transform the industry to get back to the concept of pride in craftsmanship when we go from project to product with information at the center.

This case study will cover a data product design developed by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and Autodesk Consulting. We will give an overview of Disney's business requirements, KPIs, and metrics. We will list technical aspects of the data ELT (extracting, loading, and transforming) from Autodesk Data Connector. An area of focus will be the data engineering processes required to produce meaningful consolidated tables, where data from the Data Connector is sliced and diced to target customers' KPIs. The final products include an account users' management tool and three health-scoring systems, which are used to compare projects' health scores based on customized metrics. The products transform raw data into actionable insights that inform tactical business decisions. The scores generated equip Disney with detailed intelligence about the state of business.

Copachisa is a general contractor of projects ranging from 100,000 sq. ft. to 1 million sq. ft. from schematic design to as-built documentation. In this session, we will share our experience moving forward working in a collaborative environment using Autodesk Forma. Before the pandemic, we usually worked with our information in a physical server. Due the necessity of working remotely, we decided to use BIM 360 software. The challenge was to move 40+ subcontractors and about 42 active projects very quickly (roughly two weeks). The most relevant part was first training the design teams, and then the whole organization. In a short time, we noticed the benefits of working in a web-based environment—for instance, extracting project data to conduct analytics—so we decided to expand our design workflows to precon and construction teams covering the entire project lifecycle. In 2023, we're redefining our internal processes, and by the beginning of 2024, the complete project cycle will be running in this environment.

Additionally, you'll learn about the benefits of Autodesk Forma as compared to BIM 360, including improved collaboration, increased efficiency, and reduced risk.

Have you encountered any challenges when creating a site context 3D model for a new project or proposal without sufficient survey data? This class will focus on workflows that will enable you to better create, evaluate, and communicate conceptual designs using InfraWorks software, Civil 3D software, and Revit software. We'll demonstrate how to build concept models from scratch by using the InfraWorks Model Builder tool, and we'll make modifications to the surface in InfraWorks by using imported 2D layout data from AutoCAD software and Civil 3D. Also, we will show the bidirectional workflow between Civil 3D and InfraWorks for grading design options and exporting out as IMX from InfraWorks to Civil 3D and converting them as toposurface in Revit for site work via publishing surfaces and linking topography to and from Autodesk Forma. Finally, we will cover the best practices to append the InfraWorks-exported FBX into Navisworks software for federated model with collaboration options like Autodesk Forma/BIM 360 and Shared View/web view links.
