As a partner to Delta Air Lines, Burns & McDonnell (BMcD) reached for the sky on this unique terminal design. The program began as a renovation of the existing terminals and evolved into the design of a brand-new consolidated terminal, which included four concourses, a head house, a taxi stack, and a parking garage. In this endeavor, BMcD joined forces with the client, the subconsultants, and the construction manager for a true collaboration. BMcD used an array of Autodesk products across the entire program lifecycle, from design through construction, at the heart of which was Autodesk Forma. Autodesk Forma enabled BMcD and 25 subconsultants to work seamlessly and efficiently on a single platform, across multiple office locations, and through a pandemic. Keeping the terminals fully operational continuously through construction was critical. This project was only possible with the entire team engaged in real time on Autodesk Forma. In the end, the ability to collaborate allowed for an efficient and prestigious design deliverable.

This case study will showcase how we dismantled an existing 1970s commercial tower—consisting of 46 floors standing at 188 m (617 ft) tall—and upcycled it to win Building of the Year 2022 at the World Architecture Festival 2022! The international, award-winning, high-rise Quay Quarters Tower retained 70% of the existing structure while doubling the NLA (net lettable area) in its retrofitting process. Autodesk building information modeling (BIM) technologies helped the team save 12,000+ metric tons of embodied carbon, as well as reduce construction time and environmental impact. We'll cover the digital efficiencies achieved during the design process of such a significantly large high-rise project through the use of Revit software, ReCap Pro software, Autodesk Forma, Navisworks software, and numerous structural design specialist software systems.

Explore the MEP Plant Room Configurator, a transformative tool we developed that's reshaping the ways that our MEP engineers design. This web-based application provides a centralized platform for engineers to automatically design and configure their plant rooms without leaving their browser. The tool harnesses the power of the Autodesk Platform Services Design Automation API and its integration with Autodesk Forma to automate the modeling process, generating 3D layouts for Revit software or intelligent models from any computer. This session will showcase the capabilities of the Configurator and its significant impact on building services design, facilitating improved design outcomes, earlier embodied carbon assessment, and seamless integration with building information modeling (BIM) workflows.

Put on your lab coats and safety glasses as we take an up-close look at the Autodesk Forma Assets module in this R&D Laboratory case study. "Under the microscope," we'll examine how the SSOE Group has implemented the Autodesk Forma Assets module to organize and manage lab, mechanical, and electrical equipment while mapping Revit models to improve design coordination.
