Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server software can be used with AutoCAD Map 3D software to efficiently manage and maintain assets and infrastructure without requiring a traditional tabular asset management application. This class demonstrates setting up a GIS infrastructure that incorporates Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server, AutoCAD Map 3D, and the spatial features of an Oracle® database. The system can be used not only for comprehensive asset management, but also graphically and in a geospatial environment. The class also illustrates numerous asset lifecycle management workflows for day-to-day operations, such as data capture and storage, reports, and analysis within a multiple-modules format. The class presents numerous case studies of management processes for road assets and building facilities, including field data capture of asset conditions and work order processes.

Learn how to create intelligent data in AutoCAD Map 3D software, render it in 3D in InfraWorks software, and serve it up online with Infrastructure Map Server software. All 3 products follow the life span of building footprints and parcel fabric as the design goes from being basic polylines to intelligent 3D data-rich objects.

This hands-on lab explores the configuration of GeoREST, which is used to add, view, and edit data, including both spatial data and the attributes of most spatial data types. Attendees will use Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server 2014 software to digitize data onscreen and save the spatial data directly to the original data files or database.

This class will provide attendees with a detailed exploration how to use Autodesk Vault software to organize, manage, and disseminate maps stored in DWG™ files. Specifically, you will learn how Autodesk Vault can be integrated closely with AutoCAD® Map 3D software for design, production, and operational maps. We will demonstrate how Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server software can be used in conjunction with Autodesk Vault to globally visualize the contents of the vault in geographic space. We will discuss workflows that can be configured to ensure secure access to project drawings for engineering, design, field inspections, and construction. Finally, we will explain how Autodesk Vault can complement a GIS-centric implementation that uses Oracle® Spatial or ArcIMS.

This class shows how utilities can use Autodesk® visualization tools to integrate with their smart meter systems to effectively manage smart meters in their network. The integrated solution demonstrates how you can use the power of Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server technology to visualize various meter events and empower operations personnel to resolve issues.

Providing precise and reliable management of inspection details is only a part of the construction inspection process. It is also essential to be able to visualize and manage access to the inspection records. In this class we will show how you can minimize risk by using Infrastructure Map Server software and BIM 360 Glue software to have reliable, searchable inspection data that is readily available in an easy-to-use, web-based system. The Pre and Post Facility Condition Inspection System will manage all aspects of the condition of infrastructure within a certain distance of the construction corridor; and it will do so in a database that provides time-bound, consistent, reliable, auditable, and secure access to a set of data elements that are located using GPS location—and by reference to the appropriate construction corridor feature. Through out the class we will cover the features of the system, such as how it captures the details of the inspection and maintains reliability. We will also discuss the tools that are included to suit the needs of various stakeholders.

GDF SUEZ Energy Romania specializes in providing natural gas to over 1.3 million consumers, all through an immense and intricate pipeline network covering 16,000 kilometers. In 2007, GDF Romania embarked on creating a new and more efficient network for the natural gas pipeline. Initiated from scratch and managed with the company’s internal resources and equipment, the collection of field data related to the pipeline distribution would take two years to complete and would be contained within a single, centralized database. The team made extensive use of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise software (formerly Topobase™) in regional offices, created a web platform on Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server to share the information across the company (more than 600 users), and worked closely with Autodesk Consulting to create the best and safest asset management system possible. This class will help you to better understand the challenges and the key factors of this successful implementation.

In this class, we feature 2 utilities who have taken advantage of the MultiSpeak integration that is available for AutoCAD® Map 3D software and other Autodesk software and who have created workflows and processes that streamline their systems for efficiency. Welland Hydro Electric System upgraded their GIS to AutoCAD Map 3D, and after implementing Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server software, integrated their outage management system to produce a graphical depiction of outages. The City of College Station and College Station Utilities updated their legacy CAD-based system to a database-centric system and have integrated their industry model with Milsoft™, enabling greater efficiency in maintaining their GIS. These case studies demonstrate how low-cost integrations can be achieved with existing systems using Autodesk software and MultiSpeak®. We cover the process these utilities went through, their issues and solutions, and their goals for the future.

Australia's biggest Telco has implemented a huge Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server solution. It is huge not so much in the number of users, but around the quantities and complexities of their data. Join me for a walkthrough of this journey from design to implementation as we discuss many of the issues that we faced and explain how we resolved them. We cover some key decisions about architecture, data, user interface, customizations, and much more. Finally, we look at how some cool features offered by Google® have been integrated into the AIMS solution. This high-level presentation is appropriate for anyone who is interested.

At AU 2012, Andy Morsell of Autodesk Consulting and John Keith of Independence Power and Light (IPL) in Independence, Missouri, presented a class about migrating a medium-sized municipal electric utility to AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise Electric while the project was still underway. Here we are 1 year later! This year, we present the completed application, which is in production use. Our roundtable session discusses the challenges we faced when interfacing with other systems and integrating with processes and workflows employed at IPL. We discuss the custom Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server and Autodesk Consulting Mobile Viewer applications deployed at IPL. Interfaces include a service for receiving updates from their custom information system and interfaces to legacy systems that need to remain functional while they are being replaced. We also discuss MultiSpeak® exports to IPL's Milsoft DisSPatch® outage management system.

This talk will demonstrate a streamlined geographic information system (GIS) / mapping workflow developed by CaseIntel Corporation and Autodesk, Inc., for electric utilities to support a highly automated design, build, operate, and maintain workflow. This process uses AutoCAD 360 web app, ReCap software, and LiDAR (light detection and ranging) scanning in the field; AutoCAD Map 3D software and CaseIntel NetGIS for electric utility mapping; InfraWorks 360 software and Infrastructure Map Server software for visualization; and AutoCAD Utility Design software for designing new services.

In this class, we will focus on geospatial solutions for utilities based on enterprise industry models in Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server and Autodesk AutoCAD® Map 3D software. In several steps, we will demonstrate all important aspects of building a rich GIS solution using as an example a project for a large water and wastewater group in the Czech Republic. We will cover the project from the migration of five different geospatial solutions into one Autodesk platform to actual activities in integration with external customer relations management (CRM) and maintenance systems. One of the top benefits of this solution is full or partial automation of network statement processes, starting with collecting electronic statement requests from a public site, automatically evaluating them in GIS, and responding in cooperation with CRM and internal processes. This process, as well as additional automation possibilities, will be described and demonstrated on a real example.

This class shares our know-how about implementing Vault software in an infrastructure engineering company. We provide information on all stages of implementation: choosing the best document management system (DMS), as well as analysis, implementation planning and strategy, installation, system configuration, and adaptation to company needs. We discuss results of DMS system analyses and pilot projects, and we provide arguments for choosing Vault over Bentley® ProjectWise® or any other DMS system. We share Vault best practices for managing infrastructure projects and business processes. We also share experience on Vault integration into AutoCAD® Civil 3D®, AutoCAD®, AutoCAD® Map 3D, AutoCAD LT®, Microsoft® Office, and Bentley® MicroStation® software. You also learn how to configure and maximize link efficiency between Vault and an Autodesk® Buzzsaw® server.

With over $1 billion worth of work planned over the next 5 years plus the possibility of permission being granted for the construction of a second runway, it is essential that Gatwick Airport has access to up-to-date, accurate information with regards to the critical infrastructure that keeps the airport operational. This class aims to describe the existing systems that were in place, along with the issues that have arisen as a result of having incorrect geospatial data on buried utilities. We will then describe how we realized the solution to this problem using AIMS Technology, which we will host in a cloud environment utilizing mobile tools in the field to view and update incorrect data. We will also describe how we could use the power of the crowd to perform mass updates on these data sets and the enhancements we have planned to support the airport operation, linking it to third-party systems such as Maximo and making it an integral part of our resilience planning.

Only One. AutoCAD software introduces a whole new suite of toolsets for the AutoCAD user. The AutoCAD Map 3D toolset goes far beyond mapping, but lets AutoCAD drawings be connected and work with data from many different systems. Not only does AutoCAD Map 3D let the user import and export data, but also it can create live connections to geographic information system (GIS) data, asset management systems, system inventories, and other enterprise data systems. It lets the user add attributes to all AutoCAD objects, not just blocks. It includes specialized tools to clean up drawings and label objects directly from object attributes. We will touch on the workflows the traditional AutoCAD user needs in order to take advantage of these tools using real-life examples.

This class presents an real-world example of a local government trying to introduce Vault Professional software, and all of the hidden problems we encountered while doing so.
