Welcome to Subassembly Composer for AutoCAD Civil 3D software! This is a lab for those that have utilized AutoCAD Civil 3D software for some time, but are interested in figuring out how to take their corridors to a whole new level. We will develop subassemblies you can put to work as soon as you're home, and give you a methodology for creation that will make your co-workers think you're a professional software developer. Specifically, we will begin by diving into good subassembly design practices, taken directly from our friends in the software development industry. The subassemblies we'll build together in this lab are particularly relevant to those in the land development industry, but they have direct value for those designing with corridors in AutoCAD Civil 3D software. This lab will also touch on how to harness the capabilities of the Subassembly Composer to utilize InfraWorks 360 software for design visualization. Consider this class the introduction to the course I taught last year for those in the aviation design industry. This session features AutoCAD Civil 3D and InfraWorks 360.

Key Learnings

  • Discover the best uses for the Subassembly Composer
  • Learn how to design simple subassemblies that can be utilized instantaneously in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Learn how to use a repeatable and proven software-design-style methodology for producing subassemblies that work and are easy to edit
  • Learn how to develop help files that will assist end users in their use of subassemblies created by class participants
