Safety in Design with Autodesk Forma and AR: The Digital Journey of an Aviation Project
The Terminal 2 Baggage Programme (T2BP) at Heathrow aims to replace the aging T2 baggage system linked to Terminal 1. The new solution will be implemented in five phases across 21 construction projects, grouped by physical and operational attributes. A major challenge was managing design risks through different organizations and suppliers that interface at key areas in a live operational environment. The manual Excel processes used to record design risks led to difficulties in maintaining a single source of truth, causing duplication and errors. The goal was to find a streamlined, digital solution to standardize processes and enable monitoring and reporting through dashboards. After researching data environments, Autodesk Forma was chosen for its suitability to manage design risk information, requiring customization through trial and feedback. The solution also provided integration with augmented reality (AR) for live inspections.

BIM on Track: Interdisciplinary Design for Large-Scale Railway Projects
Railway projects include many disciplines: rail superstructure, civil works, tunnels, viaducts, road bridges, culverts, systems, and so on. In large-scale international projects, many parties are involved in the design and construction process. And the integration of all information in Autodesk Forma coming from different tools—such as InfraWorks, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks Manage, and Twinmotion—enables the full BIM methodology implementation on a railway project. Autodesk tools also allow stakeholders to manage the project in the real geographical context, and to facilitate the production of photorealistic videos and virtual reality (VR) experiences for stakeholder engagement.

A Hitchhiker’s Guide to ArcGIS GeoBIM and the Forma

Get on the road to cloud-cloud integration between geographic information system (GIS) and BIM (Building Information Modeling) with ArcGIS GeoBIM and Forma software. This instructional demo will showcase customer examples of the benefits gained from the fusion of geography and BIM data for project portfolio management, collaboration, and construction project insights informed by geography. By following best practices for geolocating intelligent models, AutoCAD software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and Revit software, users can help ensure effective integration of these models in GIS. This reduces the cost of integration by ensuring upfront data quality. To facilitate this, ArcGIS GeoBIM provides analytics to identify documents with geolocation errors. Managing and visualization issues during the design, construction, and handover of BIM projects is crucial for financial and operational performance. We will show how the integration of GIS and BIM with project and issue performance dashboards significantly improves insights into these critical aspects of project management.

Converting Unused Commercial Space into Modern Offices with Revit, Autodesk Forma, and Autodesk Tandem
Renovation projects are on the rise, with digital methods like reality capture, model-based collaboration, and Digital Prototypings proving essential. AFRY Switzerland's “AFRY Bellinzona regional hub” is a prime example. Located in a historic Swiss town of Bellinzona, the 2,000 m² space was transformed from an unused commercial site into flexible, modern offices. Autodesk tools were used throughout: Recap for reality capture, Revit for model authoring, ACC for clash detection and coordination, AR visualisation, site reporting, and a Digital Prototyping prototype with Tandem. Sustainable Design was a top priority—repurposing the existing space helped meet initial goals, with recycled materials and 90% reused furniture from previous offices.

Jacobs' Operation Cases on Automation and Analytics
Jacobs manages multiple large-scale projects each year. One of the challenges is to manage all the users within the Autodesk Forma platform, as well as their assigned project products, roles, and companies. Another challenge is to visualize users' permissions on different folders within one page without clicking through each folder. To solve these problems, Jacobs worked with Autodesk to develop a user management dashboard via Autodesk Data Connector. Jacobs also extracted users' folder permission information using Autodesk Forma Connect, maximizing Autodesk Platform Services. A data pipeline was set up to streamline the data into Power BI for better visualization. In this session, we'll describe these projects, from inception to deployment, and we'll cover the technical instructions and the efficiency we've achieved. The presentation will also cover BI development from raw data extracted from Autodesk products, which are transformed into actionable insights that inform tactical business decisions.

Data Validation Methods: Reactive, Proactive, Automated, and in Real Time
The architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry generates a significant amount of data that helps in making informed data-based decisions and speeding up projects delivery. However, information derived from the data is only as good as its quality and may pose high risk to all stakeholders if not validated diligently. In this class, we will explore different methods of data validation, including 1) a reactive approach based on stakeholder feedback and observed poor performance signs, 2) a proactive approach involving the use of various data export and visualization methods to access data quality, and 3) innovative automated real-time validation techniques using custom tools and event-driven programming to ensure data consistency and prevent invalid entries. In this session, you'll learn about quality management and how to maximize the Autodesk Forma platform, other Autodesk products, and custom solutions developed using available APIs to validate data, ensure compliance with standards, and mitigate risks.
