In order to create functional clinical spaces that elevate the patient and staff experience, the medical professionals that will utilize the spaces need to understand the layout and size of the rooms being designed, the equipment that populates them, and the overall clinical flow within the units. However, many medical professionals have difficulty understanding 2D drawings and renderings, which can lead to inaccurate feedback and delayed decisions. Understanding the scale of the projects in a virtual world helps them realize the size of the rooms and the relationship of objects within the rooms, ensuring that the spaces are tailored to the needs of the various users. We will show you several examples where we used virtual reality (VR) as a health care planning and design tool to present and get feedback from clients and medical professionals while designing surgical suites and critical care units.
