Benjamin Hawkins
Ben joined the AMCA as a Policy Analyst in April 2013. The role involves the development, delivery and management of policy initiatives, including the association's research and advocacy agenda. His main objective is to ensure the association responds to and pro-actively initiates conversations with government and other relevant stakeholders in relation to policy issues. To do this, he oversees a number of technical and policy related committees, participates in industry and government working groups, and engages broadly in consultation regarding a range of policy issues. Ben also has a strong personal interest in the area of international relations and trade policy. In 2014, he completed the Master of Diplomacy and Trade program through Monash University, receiving a Dean's Award for academic excellence. As part of the Masters program, Ben wrote a research thesis on the potential implications for small and marginal farmers of the proposed free trade agreement between India and the European Union. He spent two months in India at the beginning of 2013 as a research assistant working on this project.
