The class will show the experience of BIM implementation with Revit in an architecture and engineering firm. The strategy and the investments to do, the possible problem and solutions, the schedule and the goals to achieve. The case studies and the pilot projects are essential to BIM implementation; this class will present many special real case studies from the Bulgari New Jewelry-Making Center (finalist at AEC Excellence Awards 2016) to the residences in Masdar City, showing the critical points and strengths of this BIM project.
- Discover a BIM implementation strategy
- Understand the investments needed for BIM implementations
- Learn how to set up and identify a BIM pilot project
- Learn how to resolve BIM implementation issues
Born in Bologna in 1973, he graduated from the University of Florence in 2000, he joined open project in 2001 and became a partner in 2006. From the beginning of his professional career he has been interested in research and experimentation in the field of Architecture, exploring the relationship between industrial production (standardization of component production) and construction quality (comfort, sustainability, energy reduction) with a focus on advanced solutions for housing and office buildings. He has helped shape and develop the most recent designs of Open Project, from the conceptual inception through to completion, taking care of integration for the various internal and external parties involved in the design process. He directs the design concept team.
Giacomo is a licensed Engineer specialized in BIM and sustainable design, currently working as BIM Manager at Open Project, an architecture and engineering firm based in Bologna (Italy) with an office in Abu Dhabi (UAE). He is part of the BIM Foundation research group, founded at the University of Bologna by Professor Simone Garagnani. Giacomo started his carreer at CIMS lab (Ottawa, Canada) under Professor Stephen Fai and later he became a certified Passive House Designer and BIM Coordinator in several prefab timber Passive House projects. Nowadays he implements and manages state of the art BIM in large and small scale projects, from the Bulgari New Jewelry-Making Center (finalist at the AEC Excellence Awards 2016) to the residences in Masdar City, always taking advantage of the latest technological innovations and researches. Giacomo promotes BIM speaking at several events and conferences (his paper on “Building Information Modeling (BIM) for LEED® IEQ category prerequisites and credits calculations” was published at ECPPM2016), he is also collaborating to draft the Italian BIM standards and teaching Revit at several training institutes.
