Autodesk Fusion brings design and manufacturing together in a single, connected platform helping manufacturers move from idea to production faster. For years, manufacturers have consistently told us that for certain projects, hosting regulated design and manufacturing data in the Autodesk cloud simply isn’t an option.
And for some customers, that’s meant they couldn’t use Fusion for all their work.
We’re changing that. You shouldn’t need another CAM system just because one of your jobs requires tighter control over its data.
We’re announcing a new level of data control coming to Fusion for Manufacturing: the ability to keep sensitive design data local while continuing to work in Fusion.
The experience is built around choice.
For regulated, sensitive, or customer-controlled work, manufacturers will be able to choose-design by design – to keep data under their organization’s local control. For work that doesn’t require those restrictions, they can continue to take advantage of the full breadth of Fusion’s connected platform, cloud, collaboration, and compute capabilities.
Your work. Your data. Your choice.
Fusion remains connected, so supported online resources can still be used where appropriate. When customers choose to keep design data local, Fusion applies safeguards and restricts capabilities that would require that model data to be uploaded to Autodesk cloud.
And this is only the beginning. Local data control represents one way we’re expanding choice for customers today, alongside Autodesk’s longer-term investments in areas such as regionalization, government cloud environments, and other approaches to data sovereignty.
Built around real manufacturing needs
We’ve already introduced this capability to a select group of manufacturing customers, and their feedback has reinforced how significant this barrier has been.
That is the opportunity we’re addressing: helping customers bring more of their manufacturing work into Fusion without forcing every project into the same data-management model.
We’re planning to make these capabilities available through the Fusion Insider program beginning November 17, with general availability targeted for January 19 through Fusion for Manufacturing and the Fusion Manufacturing Extension.

Additional data-control capabilities may help support customer-managed regulated workflows, including those involving sensitive or controlled data.
