RECAP: Autodesk University 2017

by ShannonMcGarry 3 years ago 2 min read

Another amazing Autodesk University is behind us. I hope those of you that attended enjoyed your time and have fully recuperated. If you didn’t, here a few highlights from last week that you’ll want to go back and review.

AnyCAD provides the ability to link to vendor, contractor and customer data, negating the translation of their data into Fusion 360. For example, you can use Fusion 360’s AnyCAD to reference a SolidWorks part designed by a contractor. Once the file is in Fusion 360, there is a link feature in the timeline. Learn more here.

The Factory Powered by Fusion 360

Well, we said that this was going to be the hottest giveaway at AU and that was no lie. After 3 days of walking people through the Product Innovation Platform along with Fusion Production to make portable speakers, nearly 300 speakers were designed, cut, soldered, injected, assembled and enjoyed. Don’t worry if you didn’t get one. We’re working to make some kits available soon, so make sure you’re subscribed to the blog for further details. Last but not least, thanks to all our sponsors Haas Automation, Inc. DATRON Dynamics, Inc. OpenBOM by Newman Cloud Inc OMAX Corporation Universal Laser Systems Pocket NCProto Labs Printrbot CNCRouterParts Other Machine Co. Dell

Design Slam

The design slam was back in 2017 and in a very big way! This year the design slam was themed after HP:Mars Home Planet project (blog post coming next week). Each of the contestants modeled products that would be integral to habitation on the red planet. If you missed the live stream on our Facebook pages, we’re working on editing a video for release later in December.

Fusion 360 Live @ AU

At every AU we try something new. This year we tested out live streaming various classes & events. From the response we’ve received thus far, it’s very likely that we’ll be doing more of these in the future. You can catch the recording of these below:

Obviously this is just the a small slice of the content from AU, but don’t fret. All the Fusion 360 classes were recorded and we’ll let you know when and where they’re posted.
