FusionNews for the week of 12/21: A weekly roundup of community news

FusionNews highlights the key things happening in the Fusion 360 Community. New posts every Friday.

From the Fusion 360 Team

Turning Point – New Turning Updates in Fusion 360 – The Fusion 360 CAM team has been busy bringing turning updates large and small. Here’s your one stop shop for what’s new in turning.

Master Reverse Engineering – In this live demonstration, Fusion Technical Specialist Jason Lichtman, will show you how to master reverse engineering with Fusion 360.

December 18, 2018 Update – What’s New – The update train has arrived. We fixed an Offset Plane issue and squashed several bugs in the CAM workspace. This should make drilling holes much easier.

Live: Generative Design for Industrial Machinery – Join us on 1/24 at 1 PM EST to learn how generative design can help you reinvent the way you design products.

Your Ideas from the Fusion 360 IdeaStation

We take your suggestions very seriously as they help to shape Fusion 360, so please share your ideas and vote for new features / enhancements you would like to see. Here are a few submissions from the week:

  • “Extend” option – Hole command – In Fusion 360 it is not possible to generate holes inside solid bodies by removing material in both directions. Is it possible to add the “extend” option as in the inventor hole command?
  • Use “simplify” tool from Simulation in CAM for generating stock model – The simplify tool in Simulation would be a perfect workflow for generating stock in CAM that has fewer features and retains the parametric link. Is this possible?
  • Multiple account quick switch – I use Fusion 360 at work and personally for hobbies, So I often must switch between the two. It would be a lot quicker if I didn’t have to re-enter the ID and password of the account I want to switch to each time.

Have a story to share? We would love to hear more about you and how you’re using Fusion 360! Shoot me an email at
