At Autodesk University, we shared the next chapter for Autodesk Assistant and how we’re evolving AI to make it more useful, connected, and scalable for the way you work. Since March, customers have had more than two million conversations with Autodesk Assistant — helping us learn, improve the experience, and bring Assistant into more everyday workflows.

What’s new for Autodesk Assistant in Fusion

At AU 2026, Autodesk Assistant became generally available to all Fusion users. A few notable updates include:

As Assistant’s capabilities expand across these workflows, some interactions require significantly more computing resources than others.

Introducing monthly Flex tokens (beta)

Beginning October 6, eligible Fusion offerings will include a built-in allowance of monthly Flex tokens (beta) for Autodesk Assistant capabilities that work with your design or perform tasks on your behalf. Your included allowance refreshes monthly based on your subscription cycle.

How does AI usage work?

When Autodesk Assistant works with your design or performs tasks on your behalf, usage is measured and tracked against your included monthly Flex token (beta) allowance. Asking Autodesk Assistant for help or support does not use your included allowance.

Usage can vary depending on the work required for a request and does not correspond one-to-one with a prompt, question, or action.

The included Flex tokens (beta) can only be used for eligible Autodesk Assistant AI capabilities in Fusion. At this time, they cannot be used for other Flex-eligible products, features, or jobs.

Autodesk tracks your usage automatically, so you don’t need to calculate it yourself. You can view your usage, remaining allowance, and refresh date in your Autodesk account.

How much usage is included?

Your Fusion offering includes the following monthly Flex tokens (beta):

Fusion offering Included monthly Flex tokens (beta)
Personal 10 every month
Students/Educators 10 every month
Trial 10 for the 30-day trial period
Commercial 20 every month

Your included token allowance refreshes monthly based on your subscription start date and unused tokens do not carry over to the next month. For 30-day trials, the included token allowance is provided once and does not refresh. You’ll be able to view both your included allowance and your usage in Autodesk account.

What happens if I use all of my included monthly Flex tokens (beta)?

What do I need to do?

Your included monthly Flex tokens (beta) will be automatically available with your eligible Fusion offering beginning October 6. You can view your usage, remaining allowance, and refresh date in your Autodesk account. As this offering is in beta, included token quantities may change as the offering evolves. If you are using a non-commercial version of Fusion, consider upgrading to get the most value out of the Assistant.

Frequently asked questions

What is Autodesk Assistant in Fusion?
Autodesk Assistant is an AI-powered assistant built directly into Fusion that can help users learn, troubleshoot, access information, and complete design and manufacturing tasks using natural language. It is designed to support workflows without requiring users to leave Fusion.
What new Autodesk Assistant capabilities were announced for Fusion?
At AU 2026, Autodesk announced expanded Autodesk Assistant capabilities in Fusion, including richer Design and Manufacturing workflows, new MCP servers, agentic AI experiences for Fusion Manage, and broader availability across the Design and Manufacturing product portfolio.
What are MCP servers in Fusion?
Fusion now includes three MCP servers:
Fusion MCP lets AI interact with Fusion locally to model and execute commands.
Fusion Data MCP enables querying and managing Fusion data remotely without Fusion open.
Fusion Compute MCP runs Fusion workflows in the cloud, allowing AI agents to execute design and manufacturing tasks.
Together, these servers help connect AI assistants with Fusion workflows, data, and compute resources.
Does Autodesk Assistant help and support conversations use Flex tokens?
No. Asking Autodesk Assistant for help, guidance, product information, or support does not consume your included monthly Flex tokens (beta). Tokens are only used for eligible AI-assisted actions and workflows.
How is Autodesk Assistant usage measured?
Usage is tracked automatically by Autodesk based on the computing resources required to complete a request. Usage does not directly correspond to a specific number of prompts, questions, or actions.
What are monthly Flex tokens (beta) in Fusion?
Monthly Flex tokens (beta) are included usage allowances that support certain Autodesk Assistant AI capabilities in Fusion. These capabilities typically involve AI working with your design data or completing tasks on your behalf.
