At Autodesk University, we shared the next chapter for Autodesk Assistant and how we’re evolving AI to make it more useful, connected, and scalable for the way you work. Since March, customers have had more than two million conversations with Autodesk Assistant — helping us learn, improve the experience, and bring Assistant into more everyday workflows.
Elevate your design and manufacturing processes with Autodesk Fusion
What’s new for Autodesk Assistant in Fusion
At AU 2026, Autodesk Assistant became generally available to all Fusion users. A few notable updates include:
- Assistant can now do more in Fusion: Assistant now supports richer, more complete Design and Manufacturing workflows through natural language prompts, backed by a redesigned, context-aware experience with streamlined onboarding. See here for more details.
- New MCP servers. Fusion now has three MCP servers: Fusion MCP, which runs locally alongside Fusion and lets you model and execute commands; Fusion Data MCP, which runs remotely and lets you query and manage Fusion data without Fusion open; and Fusion Compute MCP, which runs Fusion sessions in the cloud and lets AI agents execute design and manufacturing workflows. See here for more details.
- An agentic PLM experience. Autodesk previewed how agentic AI in Fusion Manage can analyze product and workflow context to predict impact, coordinate work, and help you drive the next action, rather than simply answer questions. See here for more details.
- Assistant is live across the Design and Manufacturing portfolio. Autodesk Assistant is now live across Inventor, Moldflow, and Vault. In Inventor and Vault, users can analyze models, modify parameters and components, create model states, automate repetitive tasks, and search existing data using natural language.
As Assistant’s capabilities expand across these workflows, some interactions require significantly more computing resources than others.
Introducing monthly Flex tokens (beta)
Beginning October 6, eligible Fusion offerings will include a built-in allowance of monthly Flex tokens (beta) for Autodesk Assistant capabilities that work with your design or perform tasks on your behalf. Your included allowance refreshes monthly based on your subscription cycle.
How does AI usage work?
When Autodesk Assistant works with your design or performs tasks on your behalf, usage is measured and tracked against your included monthly Flex token (beta) allowance. Asking Autodesk Assistant for help or support does not use your included allowance.
Usage can vary depending on the work required for a request and does not correspond one-to-one with a prompt, question, or action.
The included Flex tokens (beta) can only be used for eligible Autodesk Assistant AI capabilities in Fusion. At this time, they cannot be used for other Flex-eligible products, features, or jobs.
Autodesk tracks your usage automatically, so you don’t need to calculate it yourself. You can view your usage, remaining allowance, and refresh date in your Autodesk account.
How much usage is included?
Your Fusion offering includes the following monthly Flex tokens (beta):
| Fusion offering | Included monthly Flex tokens (beta) |
| Personal | 10 every month |
| Students/Educators | 10 every month |
| Trial | 10 for the 30-day trial period |
| Commercial | 20 every month |
Your included token allowance refreshes monthly based on your subscription start date and unused tokens do not carry over to the next month. For 30-day trials, the included token allowance is provided once and does not refresh. You’ll be able to view both your included allowance and your usage in Autodesk account.
What happens if I use all of my included monthly Flex tokens (beta)?
- Commercial and Personal
Once you’ve used your included allowance, you can continue using Autodesk Assistant’s capabilities with purchased Flex tokens until your included allowance refreshes. If you’re using Fusion for personal use and purchase Flex tokens for additional capacity, you’ll be moved to the commercial version of Fusion, and standard Flex usage rules will apply. - Trial
You’ll need to purchase Fusion to continue using these Autodesk Assistant capabilities after using your included allowance. You can continue asking Autodesk Assistant for information or guidance without using the included allowance. - Student/Educators
You can continue asking Autodesk Assistant for information or guidance. Capabilities that use the included allowance will be available again when your allowance refreshes. Additional usage is not currently available for purchase.
What do I need to do?
Your included monthly Flex tokens (beta) will be automatically available with your eligible Fusion offering beginning October 6. You can view your usage, remaining allowance, and refresh date in your Autodesk account. As this offering is in beta, included token quantities may change as the offering evolves. If you are using a non-commercial version of Fusion, consider upgrading to get the most value out of the Assistant.
