In this session, we will show you how to integrate Nearmap vertical orthographic imagery, 3D terrain data, and AI-derived planimetric linework into Civil 3D and InfraWorks. Learn how to conduct fast and easy design workflows in Infraworks utilizing the full Nearmap geospatial content stack as well as how to generate high-quality contours for your engineering basemap.

This session will help you to discover where to find, discover, and embrace geospatial intelligence and how to maximize the use of the existing geospatial hidden tools, such as a Linear Referencing System (LRS). The class will also teach you how to apply LRS to rails and roads.

In the early stage of a project, collecting and organizing baseline data is essential and key to a successful result. Satellite, aerial, or UAV-based geospatial data—such as imagery and digital elevation model (DEM)—could be one of the most critical foundations of your initial design decision. But it’s not always straightforward if you aren’t familiar with the geographic information system (GIS) industry and community. In this class, we will cover how easy and simple it is to import various GIS data into your design environment using Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software to begin with. Then we will delve into how it can be done with vanilla AutoCAD LT software. We will share several practical and also some experimental techniques to make various GIS data to AutoCAD-readable format. We will also cover some GIS concepts, basic terminology, and how to use widely used open-source toolsets such as GDAL (Geospatial Data Abstraction Library), online resources where you can find and download free data, and related tips and tricks.

As a working Geospatial/CAD manager on a military installation, it is a juggling act to manage all aspects of the job. The U.S. Air Force 3E5X1 (Engineers) career field’s increasing requirement for Autodesk® training has changed the way we manage our CAD as-built and geospatial enterprise data. This class will cover a combination of how going back to basics streamlined the Nellis Air Force Base business process and limited IT support challenges. We will present an overview of our “how-to” approach in managing construction as-builts, surveying methods, and GIS using AutoCAD® Map 3D® and AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software as well as products from ESRI® and Trimble®.

Currently at Nellis Air Force Base, our geospatial data is managed using three different software platforms. Data is collected using Trimble® surveying equipment and processed in a Trimble® software suite. The data is then brought into our ArcSDE database using ESRI or AutoCAD® Map 3D software. AutoCAD Map 3D is also used for project designs and as-built management. This process may be simplified by using Autodesk Civil 3D software as a "cradle-to-grave" spatial data software package. Using Civil 3D, the user is able to still connect to ArcSDE, import survey data, manipulate geospatial information, and design new features in the same program. This can be advantageous, especially when tying new features into existing infrastructure. Despite certain limiting factors on a military installation, this class will also cover brief software installation struggles in a military environment.

This class will help you to better understand this confusing process and explore several effective and proven methods for exchanging data sets between these applications with a minimal loss of production time.

In this class, we will focus on geospatial solutions for utilities based on enterprise industry models in Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server and Autodesk AutoCAD® Map 3D software. In several steps, we will demonstrate all important aspects of building a rich GIS solution using as an example a project for a large water and wastewater group in the Czech Republic. We will cover the project from the migration of five different geospatial solutions into one Autodesk platform to actual activities in integration with external customer relations management (CRM) and maintenance systems. One of the top benefits of this solution is full or partial automation of network statement processes, starting with collecting electronic statement requests from a public site, automatically evaluating them in GIS, and responding in cooperation with CRM and internal processes. This process, as well as additional automation possibilities, will be described and demonstrated on a real example.

This class shows you how to use InfraWorks software to create highly realistic and accurate context models for civil infrastructure projects that support a more efficient, productive, and collaborative design workflow. The class shows how to aggregate a variety of data sources in InfraWorks such as geospatial information, LiDAR data using ReCap software, design data from AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software, and 3D models from Revit® and 3ds Max® software. Use ReCap to preprocess LiDAR data for other Autodesk applications. The class shows several real-world infrastructure projects where InfraWorks was used to support design and communication.

As a part of the Infrastructure Design Suite PowerTrack, this class will highlight the potential uses of Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler software as a central tool for use in a multidisciplinary project environment. Participants will build a realistic view of an existing site by using contextual, geospatial data and will then add information at various levels of detail to represent stages in the design process. This will range from conceptual sketches through to civil surfaces and architectural models. Once built, the model will be adapted to act as a central environment for visualizing the as-built site by referencing additional data sources, such as asset registers, as well as linking out to individual design tools and collaboration environments.

Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server software can be used with AutoCAD Map 3D software to efficiently manage and maintain assets and infrastructure without requiring a traditional tabular asset management application. This class demonstrates setting up a GIS infrastructure that incorporates Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server, AutoCAD Map 3D, and the spatial features of an Oracle® database. The system can be used not only for comprehensive asset management, but also graphically and in a geospatial environment. The class also illustrates numerous asset lifecycle management workflows for day-to-day operations, such as data capture and storage, reports, and analysis within a multiple-modules format. The class presents numerous case studies of management processes for road assets and building facilities, including field data capture of asset conditions and work order processes.

With over $1 billion worth of work planned over the next 5 years plus the possibility of permission being granted for the construction of a second runway, it is essential that Gatwick Airport has access to up-to-date, accurate information with regards to the critical infrastructure that keeps the airport operational. This class aims to describe the existing systems that were in place, along with the issues that have arisen as a result of having incorrect geospatial data on buried utilities. We will then describe how we realized the solution to this problem using AIMS Technology, which we will host in a cloud environment utilizing mobile tools in the field to view and update incorrect data. We will also describe how we could use the power of the crowd to perform mass updates on these data sets and the enhancements we have planned to support the airport operation, linking it to third-party systems such as Maximo and making it an integral part of our resilience planning.

This talk will be about real-time, city-scale data visualization, analytics, computation, and simulation in Unreal Engine. We'll demonstrate real-world examples where complex master-planning data sets from multiple stakeholders were integrated to build an immersive digital twin platform in Unreal Engine. You'll learn how the outcome facilitated stakeholder engagement and collaboration and the ability to explore what-if scenarios of the urban development. Materials and textures application and rendering were automated, enabling application of different materials composition to city infrastructure and buildings to provide a realistic feel of the urban context. The speed of the real-time rendering was a masterpiece of computational geometry application to achieve automated processes.

This class will show how VTN Consulting is using Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler software to create conceptualizations of 3D city designs—above and below ground—with real engineering data that they have compiled from GIS, CAD, 3D models, and civil engineering CAD files.
