The Instagram ‘Movement’

We kicked off the New Year right with another #fusioncamchallenge, as well as started some buzz around Autodesk University 2017, with @makersinc winning one of the ‘golden tickets’. So back by popular demand, we ran another Fusion 360 CAM contest on Instagram for 18 days, rather than the traditional 10 days. After ‘drip feeding’ the IG community with my famous ‘Bruce Buffer’ image announcing the #fusioncamchallenge ‘Save the Date’, we’ve been getting social attention from all types of world class vendors, such as Orange Vise Company, around the #instamachinist community we’re contributing to.

So why are we raffling off an Orange Vise you might ask?  Eric Sun, owner of Orange Vise Company, is a big fan of the Instagram Community, and wanted to give back to the community by offering ANY one of the vises they make as a token of gratitude (since machines come in different shapes and sizes, and we don’t want it to end up on eBay by offering just one type:-)).

Now having an Orange Vise donated for the ‘Mega’ Grand Prize, it just made sense to have the theme of this contest around ‘Workholding Strategies’.

Over 70 unique entries later, posting a variety of over 175 photos/videos of multiple parts either machined, CNC routed, laser-cutted, water-jetted or dancing on a 5-axis table, all contestants demonstrated their mastery of the manufacturing process, knowledge of HSM products, and artistic flair. We wanted to get people excited about Autodesk University, and offered the winner admission and hotel expenses to Autodesk University 2017 (Nov. 14th-16th) as the ‘Grand Prize’, along with other consolation prizes such as a GoPro, a Mitutoyo Micrometer, and Fusion 360 Swag, BUT most importantly, their name entered into a lottery to win an Orange Vise.
