In this session we will have a look at how to create localized design rules for the design roads created with the roadway Design Module for InfraWorks 360 software. We will also look at how to localize the rules used for inspecting a drainage pipe network. And finally we will have an introduction in Project Kameleon preview, which enables you to create localized content for manholes and inlets for use with the drainage design module for InfraWorks 360 software and AutoCAD Civil 3D software.

At MT Højgaard, we have developed a dynamic parking structure concept to address the market regardless of design, surroundings, and building site. To make the concept even more competitive we created a design configurator to be used in the early conceptual design and all the way to construction documents and estimation. We will exemplify the use of the configurator based on a client's case.

Revit systems help us to define the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design in several ways, but the main purpose is to understand the relationships between system equipment, such as air terminals to air handling units, or from light fixtures to panels. This lab (which has won multiple Autodesk University awards) will teach you the key steps needed to control project system settings, then demonstrate how to capitalize on (or disable) sizing and analysis tools related to the system. We'll cover creating the target-source relationship between parts, and then we'll review using the systems to improve the quality of your documentation. This class focuses on the BIM workflows that enabled and supported the construction phase of the M25 highway infrastructure project. We demonstrate how BIM technology and workflows were used to increase the productivity and make best use of the 3D model data from the design phase during the construction phase of the project. We explain the process workflows related to 3D coordination and existing conditions modeling that was developed using Infrastructure Design Suite software components such as Navisworks® Manage and InfraWorks™ and their implementation strategies. We also discuss about how the workflows have contributed towards achieving higher efficiencies, reducing risk, and increasing profitability in this project.

Helping the community visualize a project’s impact before construction is complete can be very difficult unless you use the right tools for the job. This class explores conceptual site-design options using InfraWorks 360 software to visualize realistic proposed sites. Starting with Model Builder and Revit software models, you will learn how to create realistic and accurate models that support a more informative and productive public-communication model. After clearly demonstrating the conceptual and preliminary design to stakeholders, we take the design into AutoCAD Civil 3D software to run quantity takeoffs and finish the detailed design. The design is then taken back into InfraWorks 360 software to create high-impact visuals to better support public participation and communication. We will perform various types of analysis along the way to validate the design and ensure design parameters are being met.

Design visualization is one of the most common ways to help designers portray their concepts to owners. Many owners have a hard time intuitively understanding 2D drawings such as plans, sections, and elevations. 3D models let designers get multiple views and generate visuals quickly for owners and other nonindustry stakeholders. The questions for design teams: When do you begin modeling, and how do you convey important siting information during the design phase? This class will demonstrate a workflow utilizing FormIt software, Revit software, and InfraWorks software to create a smoother workflow. We’ll incorporate earlier conceptual modeling with FormIt, and site context visualization with the model in InfraWorks. Then we’ll transition to construction documentation modeling in Revit and site context visualization in InfraWorks.
