In this session, we’ll cover importing Revit systems, zones, and spaces from Revit System Analysis into HVAC Solution Pro software and creating intelligent HVAC system schematics. HVAC loads can also be imported from industry-leading load providers. This data is used to automatically build systems, calculate projects, and select HVAC equipment from equipment manufacturers. "What if" scenarios can be modeled using various equipment parameters and weather data. Various coordination files can be automatically created, including equipment schedule, schematic, electrical schedule, detailed report, and many more. With our Revit add-in, the schematics and schedules can easily be placed in a Revit drafting view. We use the Revit API to create custom schedules. A variety of systems can be created, including air, hydronic, steam, plumbing, refrigerant, VRF, and fuel gas and controls. See how what used to take days and weeks now takes minutes and hours.

This class will describe how BuroHappold is using Dynamo with Revit to revolutionize their concept and schematic design phases. Visual programming has allowed us to use iterative design to show the influence of minute architectural changes to our MEP design. This allows us to communicate quickly, effectively, and visually with the entire project team. Automated zoning diagrams for heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical loads, and fire rating were generated iteratively. Additionally, Dynamo-powered automated calculations were utilized for plumbing pipe sizing, storm riser sizing, roof drain placement, and pressurization. We have also used the schematic level Revit model to accomplish space planning for risers and MERs. The utilization of Dynamo for Revit in early design has allowed us to deliver a faster, smarter, more creative, and better communicated building. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the limitless possibilities for Dynamo in early phases of design.

Within the industrial water market, it can be a real challenge to bridge the gap between tools that are great for designing buildings and tools that are great for designing process plants. Achieving design synchronization between spatial and schematic designs with a high level of confidence is the ultimate goal. However, producing process schematics and spatial drawings and managing the equipment data becomes complex when dealing with traditional data silos in current project execution processes. True data-driven workflows will require innovation and disruption to achieve next-level results. This is one story of how Revit software, Dynamo, and Forge have helped us look at this traditional problem from a new perspective. In the design world, it's not uncommon that key project data is stored in application silos and requires a great deal of manual coordination. Autodesk has taken the first steps for architecture, engineering, and construction projects to make data available to multiple applications at once-by introducing a connected workflow that shares data from schematic diagrams with a Revit project. The Revit P&ID Modeler breaks silos down by letting the user begin with P&ID schematics in AutoCAD Plant 3D software to create intelligent, data-rich diagrams. The schematic data is hosted in the A360 cloud-computing platform cloud and is referenced by Revit project models. The 3D model consisting of elements such as piping, equipment, and accessories is then developed using information defined in the schematic, such as pipe size, pipe type, valve type, and equipment IDs. As the model is developed and the schematic iterated, the user receives feedback to help ensure consistency and that design intent is maintained.
