There's a perfect storm of technology change driving the construction revolution today. Mobile devices, Internet of Things, sensors, and drones are continuously capturing construction job-site data and the cloud is aggregating this data. Machine-learning applications such as BIM 360 IQ software help construction project teams analyze risk from this data in real time and take corrective actions. Layton Construction and Autodesk have been collaborating and working together for the past year to apply the BIM 360 IQ machine-learning system for construction safety. In this session, Cooper Darling-an assistant project manager from Layton Construction-will be sharing his project manager experiences involved in helping identify and reduce safety risks on a construction job site with the aid of assistive technologies such as machine learning. Cooper is also part of Layton's National Safety Leadership Team, and he's helping champion the processes and standards based on BIM 360 software for Layton.

In an engineering, procurement, and construction context, the project manager is asked to plan, monitor, and determine the project growth in order to manage the process, and eventually take remedial action if required. This difficult activity can be simplified and supported using Revit software and Dynamo software in order to automate the extraction of project progress curves. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to build your Revit models for the hosting of useful data that are than managed through Dynamo. The final outputs consist of reports that can be shared with management whenever requested or required. With this approach, the project can be accurately planned and continuously monitored, and its status can be easily shared. Andrew Cameron, project manager with Hensel Phelps, will share his insights from pioneering 360-degree reality capture on his project, the $1.2 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport, since 2016. He and his team of 16 field engineers have worked closely with HoloBuilder over the last three years to invent and build out many of the workflows and features that are essential on tens of thousands of construction sites around the world today, including 360-degree markups and the JobWalk app itself. He will discuss how to use 360-degree documentation to drive value on a billion-dollar project for the client, stakeholders, and his project team. He will also share his experiences of how to successfully partner with construction technology providers to build the technologies you always wanted. To highlight the team’s successful innovation partnership, he will reveal the latest co-developed solutions to speed up and even automate reality capture on projects.

Become informed on how Navisworks can be used to check models on compliance to the agreed classification system. The adherence to a classification system can be seen as a performance indicator of model quality. The level of adherence can be used to communicate with fellow modelers as well as project managers who want to see projects on time and with reduced risk. As more models start to make it to the maintenance cycle the model quality at a deeper level becomes more critical.

The traditional approach calls for engineers to produce both plan view and riser diagrams for plumbing work. This method calls for duplicated information. This is both wasteful and error prone. To achieve a connected BIM (Building Information Modeling) project, we need a way to connect the plan views to the riser diagrams. This can be accomplished using 3D riser diagrams. This demo will cover how to use Revit tools to produce 3D riser diagrams. We will discuss all the benefits to using 3D risers and how to get your project managers on board with using them for construction documents. We will provide examples of how to create, annotate, and manipulate 3D risers to plot clearly and accurately. We will also touch on the typical issues and how to fix or prevent those issues from happening.

This session will explore how Autodesk Construction Cloud is being used as a transformative tool on the 105 Victoria Street project—one of the first large-scale UK projects to fully embrace Autodesk Construction Cloud. The content will focus on real-world applications, such as tracking mega planks and steelwork from off-site production through to installation, monitoring cladding in 3D, and enhancing quality control with NCRs and visual data. We will also highlight how Skanska uses Autodesk Construction Cloud in combination with Power BI dashboards to provide project managers with real-time insights, driving accountability, improving efficiency, and enabling data-driven decision making.
