Construction site management with advanced workflow in Construction Cloud
This session is a follow-up of the class presented last year about the “Virtual construction site management with advanced workflow in BIM360” (CS468465). We will describe the improvements made this year through the adoption of the Build module including the PlanGrid Build mobile app for field workers. We’ve been widely extending the use of Construction Cloud with digitalization of other construction processes in addition of those already implemented. We are focusing our attention on setting up a workflow for safety and environmental check in the work site.Using Forge and Construction Cloud Connect, we are developing integration with other company database and Legacy IT systems, to avoid data redundancy and to build up integrated dashboards. In upcoming years we will be able to manage and improve the construction process of linear infrastructure projects with ConstructionCloud in order to improve data quality, reduce costs and time by 60%, reduce wastefulness and promote sustainability

UK Government backs a Platform approach to industrialized construction
The UK Government has joined the private sector in its commitment to a Platforms approach to industrialized construction and DfMA, outlining how this process underpins UK policy for social infrastructure in its ‘Construction Playbook’. The supporting plan to unify and mobilize data seeks to identify cross-department commonalities to inform the centralized, standardized design that will create economies of scale great enough to supply predictable, consistent pipelines and bolster a disaggregated manufacturing supply chain. Plugged into the existing supply chain, the barrier to entry is low, with no need for vertical integration or investment in manufacturing/prefabrication. As a result, opportunities for new programme-level roles will arise. Already a major feature in the procurement of 40 UK healthcare facilities, not only is this approach transforming the way the UK delivers public sector assets, but it is also paving the way for swift mainstream adoption.

Demystifying technology and standards selection for infrastructure projects
Infrastructure projects are increasingly adopting BIM in design and construction delivery, frequently driven by owner demand. Contracts are specifying BIM deliverables, adoption of standards and asset data obligations that can be daunting for inexperienced as well as more capable suppliers. This class will review example BIM obligations in infrastructure contracts to understand what is being asked, its complexity, its suitability and appropriateness, in order to consider ways of meeting the requirements. A range of strategies to deliver requirements will be discussed that will include BIM tool selection, interoperability considerations, information standards such as ISO 19650, open BIM usage and techniques for meeting data handover obligations. The value of adopting a platform approach will also be explored where organizations can leverage consistent technologies and processes between projects whilst offering flexibility to meet varying requirements and participant capability.

Advanced visualization to improve communication for transportation design
Max Bögl, a German construction and infrastructure company designed a fully automated urban mobility solution: Transport System Bögl (TSB). It is based on magnetic levitation technology and designed to provide a future-proof public transport for densely populated cities. Max Bögl approached Autodesk Consulting to help finding a quick design solution for their urban mobility systems and build 3D visualization models to communicate the proposed tracks more easily and convincingly. One of the key aspects of the whole design is the light-weight construction of elevated tracks, InfraWorks Bridge Design capabilities with its parametric modelling approach was the perfect answer. This class will highlight the main steps of the solution, the creation of the track and 3D visualization models using Inventor and InfraWorks, including animated parts, generated in 3ds Max to better demonstrate the TSB in action.

Underground Utility GIS Features to Civil 3D Pipe Networks with Dynamo
Local governments are gradually more involved with 3D infrastructure designs: On one hand, they’re managing their existing infrastructure—like storm/sanitary sewers and aqueducts networks—through georeferenced databases. On the other hand, they’re designing their proposed infrastructures through Civil 3D objects. Civil 3D software never had a perfect fit to connect with geographic information system (GIS) data, from recreating existing 3D infrastructures to better connecting them with proposed designs. Then Dynamo came into the picture! This presentation will cover efficient workflows using Dynamo for Civil 3D, mapping electric utility GIS data to automatically create Civil 3D pipe network objects using a custom pipe catalog. We will also cover attribute transfers involving both object data and property sets.

Accelerate Project Delivery: Standardizing Cloud-Connected BIM Coordination

The team of WSP Canada has developed a highly integrated workflow, combining the best of Revit Cloud Worksharing, Design Collaboration, and Model Coordination to optimize the collaboration and coordination workflows. An integrated workflow has been developed on the largest projects, covering both industrial, linear infrastructure, and building projects. Covering 10 to 500 project members working simultaneously, 7,500 model versions are shared with up to 125 task teams during a single project lifetime. All project members are informed of the status of the collaboration and coordination and presented with a uniform coordination overview, all fully automated. Finally, all parts of the workflow were analyzed, documented, and are now standardized. These are made available for use on every new project within WSP globally. The workflow has helped BIM (Building Information Modeling) managers to become 80% more productive and design teams to speed up project execution and enable faster and better project communication.

How BIM 360 Glue Supports Verkís BIM Implementation
Verkís Consulting Engineers has gained various benefits from using BIM 360 Glue software. Before taking on BIM 360 Glue, coordination and clash detection of models was a time-consuming process that delayed project delivery. Project managers had less overview over the design process in BIM (Building Information Modeling) projects, and involving stakeholders in the BIM process was often unsuccessful. With BIM 360 Glue, Verkís has streamlined coordination and clash-detection processes involving designers in the cloud environment, shortening coordination meetings and delivering better-coordinated models in less time. Project managers have better overview and are more involved in the design authoring and coordination process. The use of BIM 360 Glue and virtual reality (VR) for design review has opened a new market sector for Verkís. In this class, we will present different benefits of using BIM 360 Glue with different design projects. Verkís is an Icelandic engineering firm that provides services in building, energy, industry, and infrastructure sectors.

Project 13: Digital Transformation Across UK Infrastructure Enterprises
Project 13 is an industry initiative led by the Infrastructure Client Group (set up by the Institution of Civil Engineers) to establish a better business model for infrastructure delivery, improving productivity, performance and mitigating the skills risk. Digital Transformation is a critical enabler to unlock the value of infrastructure and provide more cost-effective ways to deliver customer outcomes. This includes the digital delivery of new assets and their operation and maintenance. These changes are underpinned by having better information that enables better decisions, faster. As part of Project 13, Mott MacDonald are sponsoring a programme of work on behalf of the ICG to benchmark the infrastructure industry's readiness for digital transformation. We have been working with leading infrastructure owners since late-2017, where membership includes Heathrow Airport, Thames Tideway, Network Rail, the Environment Agency and Sellafield. This session will introduce the Infrastructure Readiness Level (IRL) model, a bespoke tool that has been specifically developed to establish each organisation's readiness for digital transformation. The tool serves many purposes. It informs an organisation specific and industry-wide picture that enables cross-sector benchmarking and pinpoints common themes, strengths and weaknesses. Get Moving with Autodesk Infrastructure Solutions for Transportation Projects
This session will walk through a typical highway/road design transportation project workflow using the full suite of infrastructure solutions using InfraWorks software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Navisworks software, Revit software, and Structural Bridge Design software. We will look at the following workflows: InfraWorks road layout tools and component roads for preliminary design; cloud services for corridor and profile optimization for Greenfield or Brownfield projects; the creation of bridge structures and evaluating bridge design with line girder analysis; modeling and analyzing of watersheds, culverts, and drainage networks; the moving of preliminary designs from InfraWorks to AutoCAD Civil 3D software for detailed design and documentation; the moving of bridges from InfraWorks to Revit to make a more parametric structural bridge; and the transfer of detailed design elements back to InfraWorks 360 software to visualize and communicate design intent.

Gaming the System: Combine AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, InfraWorks, and Game Engines for Sites
Intended for intermediate to advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D software users, this class is designed to show land development professionals techniques and nuances for creating renderings and movies of their proposed projects. Utilizing many of the programs provided in Infrastructure Design Suite software (AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, Revit software, and 3ds Max software), this class will consist of a live demonstration showing how to create compelling and grade accurate visualizations of your site designs. By treating InfraWorks 360 software as a “level builder” we will explore how to composite existing and proposed ground surfaces, build and apply coverages for pavement and pavement markings, and prepare tree surveys for 3D placement. Finally, we will explore the use of InfraWorks software models in real-time game rendering engines. By capitalizing on real-time engines, we can shortcut long rendering times to create accurate visualizations quickly.

Constructing a Project with InfraWorks360 and Autodesk products
The course will cover the creation of a Construction Project utilizing as many Autodesk products as possible. We will start with InfraWorks 360 to demonstrate on the site selection, then utilize Map3D, Civil3D and Vehicle Tracking to build the infrastructure of the site. In parallel, we will demonstrate the use of Dynamo, Formit and Revit to build the Buildings and Structure of the site, and Plant3D, with Advance Steel to build the rest of the Plant. Also demonstrated will be Navisworks, BIM360 Glue and BIM360 Field to show a complete workflow of a project from initial concept phase to final project delivery and commissioning.
