    Description

Manufacturing companies are under increasing pressure to provide unique products to their customers while at the same time, improving their overall efficiency. Getting Sales and Engineering working effectively together to efficiently produce accurate proposals for configurable products can be a challenge at the best of times. The current difficulties with finding and retaining staff, combined with increasing demand for product customization, make it even harder. The session addresses the requirements, challenges, lessons learned, best practices, and value obtained from using Inventor models directly in a web-based Configure-Price-quote (CPQ) solution developed with the Forge Design Automation API for Inventor.

    Key Learnings

    • Structure Inventor models for use by Forge
    • Define the external interface and logic that must be developed to use Forge effectively
    • Access reference material available from Autodesk to start development of a configurator
    • Identify the components required for a complete configuration solution from quotation to production
