As educators, do you have exciting projects or ideas that you want to reach out to industry for collaboration, mentorship, or support, but you run into barriers or have no ideas how to do it? Vice versa, as an industry person, you wanted to partner with academia to collaborate on your projects, test your products, and recruit a diverse workforce but you are not sure how to do it or do not have an effective approach? This hands-on “workshop” provides a set of best practices based on our successful collaboration. You will work in small groups to brainstorm approaches on how to form productive partnerships. You’ll walk away with an actionable plan to form the industry-academic collaboration/partnership that you can execute when you go home! You will also have the opportunity to network with other professionals.
- Create strategies for meaningful collaborations with universities, industry, and other agencies.
- Facilitate conversations and engagements between their respective organizations for productive collaborations.
- Identify key coaction points between organizations to create a proposal for engagement.
- Learn collaboration "pain points" and how to eliminate them.
