Richard Hoover joined Framestore as VFX Supervisor in Montréal in 2015, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the visual effects industry, as demonstrated by two Academy Award nominations for feature films Superman Returns and Armageddon. Richard is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where he studied Fine Arts and Architecture. His first role as Director’s Assistant at MidOcean Motion Pictures took him straight to Hollywood, where he was quickly promoted to Commercial Director, working across both live action and computer generated effects. His passion and talent for VFX resulted in stints at Dream Quest Images, where, on his second film project, Richard accrued the AMPAS nomination for Armageddon; Walt Disney Animation, later The Secret Lab; and most recently, Sony Pictures Imageworks, where he held the role of VFX Supervisor for 11 years
