This class presents an real-world example of a local government trying to introduce Vault Professional software, and all of the hidden problems we encountered while doing so. Autodesk Fusion 360 software has rapidly arrived in deeply integrated Vault and Inventor enterprise environments. Entire departments and suppliers often strategically align their complete designs in Autodesk Fusion 360. The new challenge for CAD managers is to find ways to integrate Autodesk Fusion 360 data into Inventor data managed in Vault Professional software. This class will focus on collaborative ways to complement Vault-managed Inventor data sets with Autodesk Fusion 360 designs. Vault software is the best tool for managing your CAD data, particularly for those involved in the design and engineering process. Once a design is completed, people outside the design team—clients, fabricators, manufacturers, and installers—will need to see your drawings. This class will show you how to use BIM 360 Docs software as your published documents portal, and how to get your approved drawings from Vault Professional software to BIM 360 Docs—where external consumers can access it through the BIM 360 Docs web portal or a mobile device. We’ll walk through configuring Vault Project Sync to publish files to BIM 360 Docs, as well as configuring BIM 360 Docs to ensure that only the right people get access to the files. We’ll also discuss the markup capabilities in BIM 360 Docs, and how to get the design team to see those markups.

In this class you will learn about enhancements to Items and Bill of Materials area in Vault Professional 2015 including the basics about creating items and editing BOM in Vault to support for Long-lead items, re-using items, editing Position Number, using Vault items in CAD BOM, etc. In this class you'll also learn about using more advanced Item & BOM capabilities such as Item Lifecycles, Multiple BOM Rows, BOM Row Properties, BOM Reports, etc. that are introduced in Vault Professional 2015 R2 release.

Like a recipe or business card, items represent things within your business. Items represent the components that the company manages, assembles, sells, and manufactures. Autodesk Vault Professional software introduces the ability to generate items and manage an item master. Within this class you will learn what items are and how to provide both engineering staff and non-engineering (no access to a CAD application) with access to the data. We will cover how to issue new stock numbers and build intelligent naming schemes. You will learn how to attach your CAD data smartly with proper property (metadata) information mapping. You will also learn how to provide a mechanism for exchange of data between Vault and enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing resource planning (MRP), and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. We will discuss release management for lifecycles and revision schemes. You will learn how to create bills of materials (BOMs) for your items. Finally, we will cover change orders and how items are integrated.

Vault has undergone a massive overhaul in the recently released Vault Professional 2015 and Vault Professional 2015 R2, especially in the areas of items and bill of materials (BOM). This class will give you an overview of some of the major item and BOM enhancements in Vault 2015 including support for long-lead item workflows and enhancements in Vault 2015 R2 including multiple BOM rows, BOM properties, BOM reports, Copy Design, and Vault Office.

This roundtable session focuses on useful ideas for and the practical aspects of integrating AutoCAD Utility Design software into an Vault Professional software environment. The focus is on integrating the user-defined properties in Vault with related properties within Utility Design, and strategies to capitalize on Vault lifecycle states within the utility design lifecycle. Managing AutoCAD Utility Design template files and producing useful reports is also included. The emphasis is on practical ideas that can benefit any organization considering combining Vault and AutoCAD Utility Design.

Companies need to capitalize on high-efficiency workflows in today's diverse and complex marketplace. In this class you will learn how to set up Vault Professional 2016 software successfully in a multiexecution-center workshare environment on an AutoCAD Plant 3D 2016 software project. We will cover hardware/software requirements for Vault Server software, Vault File Server software, and Vault Client software. We will look at installation as well as learn how to capitalize on synchronization and replication of AutoCAD Plant 3D software data in a multisite workshare environment. We will also identify many gotchas and caveats, and disclose known workarounds before they affect your production workflow. While this class will definitely cover the big picture, its purpose is technically focused and not for the (technically) faint of heart.
