Customers are building bigger, better, and more-complex designs. These models not only take a very long time to open, but they are also cumbersome to view, manipulate, and work with. Starting with the foundational concepts of assembly, degrees of freedom, positioning, and motion, we will progress into the deeper topics of flexible subassemblies, the behavior of grounded components, and so on. We will describe the various joint types that can be used in your model, and scenarios where they are applicable. We will attempt to demystify assembly modeling in Fusion 360. Airport projects don’t fit into the typical AutoCAD Civil 3D software corridor workflows. Inspired by the integrated product-development capabilities in Fusion 360 software, this class will walk through the advantages of using the multidisciplinary workspaces (ECAD, modeling, CAM) of the product-innovation platform. You will learn how to save time and money while avoiding frustration by rapidly exploring iterations of a design to optimize a printed circuit board (PCB) and mechanical components for an electromechanical assembly. To fully encompass the design process, we will use ECAD and EAGLE to address basic PCB design principles. We will then use the PCB design to create a parametric electromechanical assembly in Fusion 360, after which, we will use the CAM workspace to develop machining operations for the mechanical components. Finally, we will make a design change to the base PCB component, and we will update the assembly model and CAM operations to illustrate the efficiency and interdisciplinary communication benefits of integrated product development in Fusion 360.

In this 60-minute instructional demo, we will examine how to use Inventor software and Configurator 360 software to create parametric assembly models where the components cannot be predicted in advance, hence the inability of iLogic plus suppression to solve the problem. We will show how to start with a base model for context, how to annotate accessory components so they can be added dynamically but only in legal configurations, how to use Configurator 360 software as a delivery mechanism, and finally (yes, a bit unrelated) how Configurator 360 software can export the full assembly to Revit software. Common areas of application include furniture systems, customized enclosures, industrial components with customized accessories, and many others.

This class covers the use of bolted connections, joints, rigid elements, and other element types to link parts within multi-body assemblies inside Autodesk Nastran In-CAD and Simulation Mechanical.  Several models will be displayed to highlight the differences between solid and idealized connectors, and how each approach can affect the results.

You will learn how to troubleshoot the most common challenges, including project setup and configuration, networking issues, Vault software, inaccessible projects, customer's custom parts, equipment, specs and catalogs, XML codes editing, and migration problems.
