They had been awarded a large high end residential tower project with very bespoke interiors. The project timeline was extremely tight and so Bruce Henderson Architects reached out to Viewlistic for advice on the best way to create and streamline the Autodesk Revit Family content to help meet the tight deadline.

Project goals

Bruce Henderson Architects identified that the Family creation was a key to providing reliable information and to meet the project deadlines. The Families needed to have the right parameters for scheduling, and be parametric and modular so that the bespoke joinery could be assembled from those components. Bruce Henderson Architects also wanted these Families to form part of the ongoing kit of parts for future projects. Due to the tight constraints they wanted help to create the content too.

Solution

Meeting with the team at Bruce Henderson Architects, Viewlistic were able to provide a return brief to help clarify the outcomes. Our team created Families that were not only suitable for the bespoke requirements of the project but with built in versatility to be used on future projects and to be integrated into the Bruce Henderson Revit libraries. Shared parameters were created to allow for scheduling and tagging metadata from the joinery. Parameter naming was standardised across all families to ensure ease of use, and clarity. Our team worked with the Bruce Henderson team to make sure the family modular structure was understood and the maximum potential of the families were realised. Viewlistic used Autodesk BIM 360 Design to collaborate with the team tracking versions making sure the latest families were being used.

With efficient modularised families, Bruce Henderson were able to meet the deadline and deliver consistent and reliable outputs. They now have a framework for future family creation and great additions to their existing library.
