We’re making AI-powered design accessible with an updated generative design price structure.

Generative design in Autodesk Fusion 360 made its initial commercial debut in October of 2018. Since then, we’ve been learning a lot about how we can make it easier for you to try what we believe will be beneficially transformative to the way you design and engineer your products.

Over these past few years, you’ve watched us expand our functionality to include additional manufacturing methods, load and constraint types, and performance objectives. We’ve also added tools for helping you select the best outcome and have improved our geometry conversion to make using an outcome in your design process increasingly more seamless. You may have also noticed in-product surveys, experiments and promotions around our pricing model to learn what works best for you. Another less visible area of progress is in our use of the cloud. We’ve refined our usage of cloud computing, significantly increasing our efficiency through better alignment with how you’re using the solution.

With your feedback and our continuous improvement efforts in mind, we’re announcing an updated generative design price structure that gives teams of all sizes and budgets a chance to experience its benefits. Starting today, we’re making generative design subscriptions accessible at a game-changing price point of $200 USD per month.

“Experience and insight put us in a position to dramatically increase access to the technology and invite a much broader swath of Autodesk users to see what’s possible with generative design,” Stephen Hooper, VP and General Manager of Autodesk Fusion 360, said in today’s ADSK News announcement. “Giving design teams of any size and budget an opportunity to take advantage of it has been our vision since inception, as we believe it will be good for everyone.”

As you can see in the chart below, generative design subscriptions still allow for the same unlimited generation of outcomes and the creation of editable Fusion 360 designs:

Generative Design Extension – Subscription Pricing
Annual – Unlimited Access$1,600 USD/year
Monthly – Unlimited Access$200 USD/month

For those who prefer to use generative design on a per-project basis, we also offer an affordable option for outcome generation and editable design creation when paying with cloud credits. The updated price for generating outcomes is 33 cloud credits and includes access to create editable designs for all of the outcomes generated in the study at no additional cost. Even more exciting, editable designs can now be created for all your past outcomes at no cost, as well:

Generative Design Extension – Cloud Credit Pricing (per study)

Total33 for all designs

Based on this price structure, if you expect to run four studies or more per month, subscribing to the Generative Design Extension is the most cost-effective way to utilize generative design. However, if you’re expecting to run less than four studies per month, it’s more cost-effective to buy cloud credits on an as-needed basis to generate outcomes and editable designs.

With this opportunity, there is no better time than now to get started with generative design. If you’re already using generative design, I encourage you to look at the Generative Design Extension subscription model to see if it’s right for you. If you haven’t started using generative design yet, check out our Fusion 360 30-day trial and getting started content to see how generative design can help you improve your design and engineering processes.
