In this class, we start with an overview of how simulation can be used during the complete design process. Simulation enables our customers to stand out from their competition because they can be more innovative and get to market faster while ensuring product quality. We cover several tools, including Autodesk® Force Effect™ and Dynamic Simulation in Inventor® 3D CAD software. We look at sloshing by performing a CFD analysis with Autodesk® Simulation CFD software, and we use Autodesk® Simulation Mechanical software to analyze vibrations.

Meaningful CAE analysis implies adopting optimization in the simulation process. Starting with a brief overview of optimization, we will cover 2 simulation optimization tools in the cloud: Inventor software AIP simulation (which supports multistudy, multigoal exploration with a focus on weight savings) and Simulation Flex software (formerly Sim 360 software), which provides an efficient user interface to describe an optimization problem with goals, constraints and parameters. Simulation Flex software works with Saturn, the distributed cloud-based optimization platform and service. Using powerful on-the-fly charts, users can bookmark points on the design space and promote the selected run that meets the fitness criteria to the model.

Simulation for Fusion 360 brings powerful simulation tools to every designer and engineer. Now you can make the right design decisions, improve your product functionality, and identify critical areas in your design. In this class you will discover how to setup simulation, create loads and supports, analyze results, and share it on the cloud. You will learn how to analyze your model using Linear Static Stress and Modal analysis.

In this class we will provide a guided, hands-on experience for working with both Simulation Composite Analysis software and Simulation Composite Design software.

Simulation tools are transforming the field of aerospace design by enabling affordable, on-demand simulation capabilities. Escape Dynamics, Inc., has been actively using mechanical and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tools in the design/optimization process of several key components of their space launch system, including antennas for wireless energy transfer, airframe and structural components of a single-state-to-orbit space plane, and a highly efficient combustion-free engine configured to use wireless microwave energy to power a space plane. In this lecture we will summarize the key benefits of using Simulation software tools in aerospace design application, and we’ll focus more narrowly on the CFD and mechanical simulations of our thermal thruster engine. We will specifically focus on comparison between simulation results and the real-world test data and share the lessons we've learned in simulating various heat-exchanger topologies, flow-through nozzles and pipes, and flow-with-heat addition.

In this class you will learn about the interaction between Inventor software and Simulation Flex software. We will focus on using Inventor software models via direct integration for stress analysis, code checking, and mechanical and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation in the cloud. You will get in-depth overview of the Simulation software products and functionality, and you will learn the proper workflow needed to achieve optimum efficiency and integration.

In this class, you will see how to use Fusion 360 Simulation software to create an Event Simulation workflow. You’ll learn that nonlinear concepts such as multibody contact, nonlinear elastic and plastic material behavior, and large deformations are straightforward and intuitive in Event Simulation. You do not have to be an expert in finite element analysis (FEA) to build and simulate realistic nonlinear models. You will discover the new automatic quasistatic analysis technique that’s built into Event Simulation and see that this new, fully explicit method vastly simplifies even the most-challenging nonlinear contact problems. You’ll learn to toggle between transient dynamic and quasistatic simulations with ease. The presentation of numerous example problems will show that challenging nonlinear simulation is now available to everyone.

We focus on Autodesk® Simulation Composite Design software for designing composite structures and on Autodesk® Simulation Composite Analysis software for stress and failure analysis of composite structures. We provide an overview of the capabilities of the software, present case studies, and discuss target markets. We also cover the future direction of the Simulation Composites product line.

After this class you will be able to apply the Inventor software simulation capabilities more effectively so that you make better designs.

Accuracy of injection molding simulation is influenced by many factors such as modeling of part geometry, mesh type and density, mathematical solution, and process settings. The focus of this class is the influence of material data on simulation precision and accuracy. This class outlines the background behind the development of Autodesk world-leading material-testing laboratories, the importance of material data to accurate simulations and, through sensitivity studies, the influence of uncertainties in material properties on simulation results.

This class will review the new wind simulation technology available in Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2015 software. We will review the current landscape of code-based wind design (specifically ASCE 7) and we'll discuss the challenges of applying these methods to different structure types. We'll then examine Robot Structural Analysis Professional software's unique computational fluid dynamic (CFD) wind simulation tools, and we'll discuss how they compare to the code-based approaches. Using sample wind simulation models, we will review the wind simulation analysis parameters and the analysis process, and we'll discuss the simulation results. Finally, we'll review the benefits of wind simulation, we'll discuss the ways it can be used to supplement and/or validate code-based approaches, and we'll cover the benefits of wind simulation on workflows and projects.

This session will cover how Simulation and Generative Models allow you to create multiple shape variations in Simplify and Edit Model workspaces. In Design Workspace, Configurations allow users to quickly create multiple variations of a design based on feature parameters, physical material, and suppression, to name a few. Configurations created in the Design Workspace can be seamlessly consumed in Simulation and Generative Design. Using this, one can create multiple simulation studies quickly for analysis and compare them in the results workspace. In Generative Design this is useful to quickly create multiple studies involving different setup parameters resulting in a richer design space to explore outcomes.

In this class, we will discuss methods for working with real-world designs and preparing them for efficient Simulation. Many common design practices often create headaches for quickly evaluating the performance of a design. We will look at simplification techniques for dealing with purchased parts, creating simulation variations to look at what-if scenarios and understand best practices for working with thin-walled designs. Lastly, we will provide you with some tips and tricks for getting the most of our Simulation in Fusion.

We invite customers who have a need to simulate thermal management of electronics to attend this roundtable. We plan on discussing and discovering common electrical computer-aided design (ECAD) and mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) workflows, going from ideation, conceptual layout, and final design. Thermal management fits in this design process throughout and we will present some mockups on how we see the next generation of simulation fitting into the design process. We hope to gain insight from the roundtable regarding how participants currently manage the ECAD data and use it along with MCAD data to perform thermal simulation, where their struggles are, and what could be done to make everything easier. This session features CFD, Forge, and Fusion 360.
