Plant Design Suite provides comprehensive plant design and piping software in an economic package. AutoCAD Plant 3D software and AutoCAD P&ID software can very effectively help in the design and modeling of plant projects; however, troubleshooting problems related to Plant Design Suite can be a challenging task. In this class we will cover the 'sore spots' of AutoCAD Plant 3D software. You will learn how to troubleshoot the most common challenges, including project setup and configuration, networking issues, Vault software, inaccessible projects, customer's custom parts, equipment, specs and catalogs, XML codes editing, and migration problems. You will also learn how to use Revit software data in AutoCAD Plant 3D software, and you will learn how to incorporate AutoCAD Structural Detailing software drawings and Inventor software part and assembly models into an AutoCAD Plant 3D software project for a better workflow.

This class will cover the combination of AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Revit software, AutoCAD Plant 3D software, and reality computing. Years of practice with 3D scanning and 3D modeling in the oil and gas industry have yielded applicable workflows and submittal products for building. The challenges of working in the petrochemical field have helped identify pitfalls that we can now avoid in today's reality capture and Building Information Modeling (BIM) construction tasks. This class will show that the capture of the data is not what's important; the Reality Solutions that are created from the data are what provide the most value.

Providing construction project teams with complete, accurate, and construction-ready design documentation is one of the best ways to ensure that design intent is met during construction. During the design process, there are many stakeholders that play a role in development of design documentation—from architects and CAD managers, to virtual design and construction teams, owners, contractors, and trades. But not everybody works in the same location or at the same time. Using the cloud to support collaboration during the design process can connect these stakeholders, and this class will discuss how to easily bring designs from AutoCAD software, Revit software, Civil 3D software, and AutoCAD Plant 3D software into Construction Cloud to support cloud-based collaboration.

In this class we will explore an extended structural steel workflow between different Suite Solutions from Autodesk, Inc. Create, exchange, and optimize a steel structure using the power of different Autodesk Solutions in an integrated workflow. Design your steel structure and optimize it without the need to recreate it using the unique capabilities of the suite workflows. In this workflow we will cover the interoperability between the Solutions by starting to create a steel structure in AutoCAD Plant 3D software and importing the structure into Revit Structure software. Then we’ll exchange the structure to Robot Structural Analysis software for steel optimization; update the structure, drawings, and results in Revit Structure software; and export the optimized steel structure to Advance Steel software for structural detailing and the creation of shop drawings. We will use Navisworks software or BIM 360 Glue software to review the project and perform clash detection. Afterward we will reference the detailed structure back into AutoCAD Plant 3D software to complete the workflow.

AutoCAD (& verticals) Plant 3D, and Revit all have different workflows with ACC/BIM 360 projects and the Desktop Connector. After many challenging hours I believe I have finally found a way to explain the various ACC/BIM 360 workflows and would like to share this knowledge with everyone else who's also dealing with all these various workflows and collaboration options. Specifically, I'm going to cover working with Revit, Plant 3D, and Civil 3D (same workflows for AutoCAD) with ACC and/or BIM 360 projects. I'll also cover the Desktop Connector 15 and 16 and the differences we've encountered, good and bad.

With Autodesk's acquisition of PlanGrid and release of Autodesk Construction Cloud there are several tools that assist in the flow of project information. This class will show various workflows not only with the supported software tools like Revit, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Plant 3D, but also with approval workflows, RFIs, submittals, ways sheets flow through a project, and ways you can use Autodesk Construction Cloud Connect to transfer data across different cloud platforms. This class will inspire you to expand your use of Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Vault software offers many different add-ins to let you interface with many of the Autodesk offerings. So how does Vault work with some of the different CAD products? What do you need to know to utilize Vault with these products? How do they differ from each other? Learn how to configure and manage multiple CAD products with Vault. Get the tools you need to expand your Vault functionality. This class will discuss general best practices for Vault add-ins, and dive more deeply into AutoCAD Electrical software, AutoCAD Plant 3D software, and Revit software. We’ll also touch on some basics to interface with BIM 360 software and Fusion Team. Get tips and tricks, and learn some possible pitfalls and limitations. We’ll cover what’s different, what’s the same, what you need to know for each of the covered products, and what does or doesn’t function as expected in Vault software.

Industrial piping design tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D software are now sophisticated and mature tools in many capacities across the specification-driven, P&ID-validated, data-driven fronts. However, other disciplines are engaging with more-contemporary modes of design, communication speed, and risk reduction. This paper will discuss how complimentary computational-design processes can harness power from other disciplines such as 3D geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in product design, mesh backdrops originating from reality capture processes, intelligent AutoCAD-Plant-3D-to-Revit interoperations through APIs, through to the creation of specifications from legacy data fragments for seamless piping component file (PCF) imports.

Checklists save lives. Surgeons and airline pilots use checklists to make sure they don’t miss important steps in surgery or during flight. Checklists may save the life of an AutoCAD Plant 3D software project as well. This class will cover key steps for getting an AutoCAD Plant 3D software project underway successfully. We’ll also look at how to set up the project directories and drawings for best practices’ use of external references and for utilizing a plant coordinate system. This in turn enables us to overcome the large coordinates issue and actually work with a state plane coordinate system (SPCS)—and far from 0,0 origin! We’ll also demonstrate checklist steps for incorporating models from other Autodesk, Inc., products such as Revit software and Advance Steel software; for successfully generating isometrics and orthographics; and for using an advanced feature in isometrics that creates these isos in the SPCS. You’ll be provided with all of these checklists as a way to retain this information and to expand on them for your AutoCAD Plant 3D software projects.

This class describes best practice workflows using AutoCAD® Plant 3D, AutoCAD® Civil 3D®, Autodesk® Revit® Structure, Autodesk® Inventor®, and AutoCAD® Map 3D software for creating a database-driven 3D model in Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler software.

The course will cover the creation of a Construction Project utilizing as many Autodesk products as possible. We will start with InfraWorks 360 to demonstrate on the site selection, then utilize Map3D, Civil3D and Vehicle Tracking to build the infrastructure of the site. In parallel, we will demonstrate the use of Dynamo, Formit and Revit to build the Buildings and Structure of the site, and Plant3D, with Advance Steel to build the rest of the Plant. Also demonstrated will be Navisworks, BIM360 Glue and BIM360 Field to show a complete workflow of a project from initial concept phase to final project delivery and commissioning.

In this session we’ll discuss why Hazen chose to implement the Design features of Autodesk Construction Cloud for Civil 3D, Plant 3D, and Revit after extensively testing a variety of other Document Management Systems (Nasuni, Panzura, ProjectWise, BIM 360). Things covered will be: How testing was performed and over what time frame. The key factors that led to Hazen to choose ACC. What our experience was with each DMS. How Hazen is transitioning to ACC from other Document Management Systems. What the positives and negatives are of utilizing ACC Design. What our internal feedback has been from both Designer, Engineers, and Project Managers. What improvements Autodesk can implement to make ACC even better. Along the way we’ll provide details on ACC workflows Hazen has developed and their resulting project efficiencies. We’ll also touch on the possibilities of future ACC implementation around the Takeoff and Build features.
