This lab will introduce designers to the real-world use of, and best practices for, rendering Revit software models using 3ds Max software and the NVIDIA iray rendering machine. Learn key techniques for working with Revit software models inside of 3ds Max software, and discover what it takes to render photographic-quality images using the iray rendering machine. Explore the creation and application of the Autodesk, Inc., library materials to quickly create surface textures. Utilize the daylight lighting system to simulate outdoor lighting. This class will introduce the use of traditional architectural photographic techniques and composition for the creation of compelling images. Learn how to control the camera through the use of composition techniques like the rule of thirds and the diagonal method. Use 3ds Max software exposure controls to adjust the scene exposure, and then set up and render using the iray rendering machine. See how you can get ahead of the competition by creating visually compelling, photorealistic renderings using photographic compositions and the iray rendering machine.

Steven Schain is the post-production supervisor for all CADLearning products from 4D Technologies, as well as the content development manager of CADLearning's Media & Entertainment products for Autodesk, Inc. software, including 3ds Max and Maya . In 1998, Autodesk recognized Steven as one of only 16 Autodesk Training specialists worldwide. He has since contributed to Autodesk's certified courseware for 9 releases of 3ds Max, was a co-developer of Autodesk's ACI Program and 3ds Max’s fundamental standards, and is currently an Autodesk Certified Instructor. As a premier Autodesk trainer, he has continued teaching end users, companies, and many others, including The Walt Disney Company, Guess, and the United States Army. As a 7-year veteran of Autodesk University, Steven has taught classes ranging from creating particle fountains in 3ds Max, to classes on 3D printing and entrepreneurship.
Tod Stephens is a Software Applications Engineer at Advanced Technologies Solutions Inc. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University and his Master of Science degree in Education and Technology from Walden University. He has been working in the CAD, BIM and visualization field for over 15 years. Tod conducts Revit, Inventor and 3ds Max training, implementation and customization services for ATSI. Tod’s recent projects include being part of a team that received a US Patent for a dental simulation software application, creating biomedical visualizations studying the molecular structure of muscles, and developing a modeling and simulation workflow for light-weight armor design for police and security personnel. Tod is a Revit Autodesk Certified Instructor, 3ds Max Autodesk Certified Instructor as well as a Certified Professional in AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, Revit MEP, Revit Structural, Inventor, 3ds Max and Maya.
