This presentation will provide attendees with a detailed review of sheet creation in Advance Steel software. Attendees will learn how to create general arrangement drawings, single part sheets, and assembly drawings. We will review best practices when using the Drawing Styles and Drawing Process palettes. By the end of this class, attendees will have a better understanding of the Drawing Manager, and will be able to create drawing process templates. Attendees will also learn the basics of modifying existing sheets and placing new views on existing sheets. We will review tips and tricks, as well as case studies showing what to do—and what not to do—when generating sheets in Advance Steel software. This session features Advance Steel. AIA Approved

Rebecca Stanford began her education with Autodesk, Inc., tools, and she started her career as a Building Information Modeling (BIM) professional in 2001 with a noted focus in structures. She was a pioneer at previous firms by teaching fundamentals of Revit software internally to the companies she served from early 2006. This soon caught on to clients interested in moving into BIM using Revit software, and she began hosting "Lunch and Learns" for local clients. Stanford brings a wide variety of 3D technology and experience from numerous construction projects, both in the United States and internationally. These projects range from $100-plus million schools and municipal buildings to some of the largest water treatment projects in the United States. Currently, Stanford is authoring sections of Autodesk’s Advance Steel software curriculum for drawing customization. This work builds on her 15-plus years in both design and detailing of structural systems. While at IKERD Consulting, she has been a contributor to the BIM Forum LOD Specification since its first edition in 2013.
Will Ikerd—PE, CM-BIM, LEED AP—is principal at IKERD Consulting, an internationally recognized consulting group in buildings, civil, and industrial construction markets specializing in using Building Information Modeling (BIM)-enabled Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). He serves as an expert consultant in design and construction cases involving BIM and VDC processes. Currently, he is on the board of directors of the national BIM Forum, and he was past chair of the Structural Engineering Institute’s national BIM Committee. He has won the Best Speaker award twice from the International Structures conference, and he was named Structural Engineering magazine’s “Top 10 Leaders in Structural Engineering,” Glass Magazine’s “Top 30 under 40,” and Building Design & Construction magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40.” He has served as PCI’s BIM consultant in that industry’s innovation initiatives.
