    Description

Producing and controlling data from project models at a defined level is still largely a manual and error-prone process. This session will present ISO 7817 (Level of Information Need), the emerging standard beyond traditional Levels of Detail, and show how BIM execution plan requirements link to a Revit model. The session will explore a closed-loop workflow that tracks data from requirements to reporting. The method includes transferring information requirements from Microsoft Excel into Revit elements as parameters using Dynamo, guiding modelers by showing what data to input and why within element properties, collecting data back into Excel, and automatically generating performance reports by doing a row-by-row comparison of “Required” and “Provided” data using a large language model (LLM).

    Key Learnings

    • Learn about ISO 7817 principles to transition from traditional LOD to a Level of Information Need framework.
    • Learn how to implement a Dynamo workflow to transfer information requirements from Excel matrices into Revit parameters.
    • Learn how to synchronize bidirectional data between Revit and Excel to track information from requirements to delivery.
    • Learn how to validate BIM data compliance using LLMs to compare "required" versus "provided" values for automated reporting.
