Providing License Compliance Advice and Proactive Account Management

Providing License Compliance Advice and Proactive Account Management

Customer challenge

4D Studio is a leading-edge design and visualisation company based in Melbourne, with nationwide and international customers, offering superior creativity and unsurpassed technical expertise. Edmund Ng, 4D Studio Managing Director, reached out to Digistor when they were contacted by Autodesk's Licence Compliance team for a routine audit. During the global lockdown, 4D Studio, like many companies, had moved their creatives to remote workflows, and such a move poses risks, both internal and external to network and license integrity.

Project goals

The key goals were to ensure that 4D Studio maintained their gold standard in Autodesk AEC and Autodesk 3ds Max license compliance and that any areas that required attention were identified and remedied.

Solution

Connor Consulting carried out an audit on Autodesk's behalf which resulted in a report showing what tasks needed to be carried out. As expected, 4D Studio was compliant from a license-count perspective, though the audit did uncover older versions of Autodesk AutoCAD software, no longer used, that needed to be uninstalled.

Business outcome

The audit helped accelerate the move from a Autodesk AutoCAD/Autodesk 3ds Max pipeline into a Autodesk Revit/Autodesk 3ds Max pipeline and also to invest in Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Industry Collections for cost savings over a 3 year term.

Conclusion

License compliance can be complex and seeking advice proved to be valuable and productive. It not only saves the time of key personnel and business owners, but guards against internal and external risks. The increasing use of remote workers and outside contractors mean companies need to be vigilant about use of company owned equipment and controlling what can be installed. Engaging expert consultants who can advise on up-to-date license compliance and audit readiness is both an investment and insurance policy. The deployment of long term Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Industry Collection helped to simplify the customers tools access and provide significant cost savings over 3 years.
