Efficient CAM Programming for Multiaxis CNC Machines in OSC

Efficient CAM Programming for Multiaxis CNC Machines in OSC

Customer challenge

OSC is deploying Multiaxis CNC machines for both milling and turning to help design and manufacture their complex oil and gas equipment.  Their existing CAM software is difficult to open Multiple CAD models obtained from different vendors and is unable to efficiently program the parts required for manufacturing.

Project goals

  • To find an efficient way to program their CNC Jobs at lesser time for their machines.
  • Reduce the overall cost for programming.
  • Identify optimal ways to work with multiple CAD models from different vendors.

Solution

OSC already has a Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection subscription. The end users are creating CAD Models using Inventor and Fusion 360. With the existing Inventor CAM and Fusion 360 CAM, they are able to create CNC programming for the Models, but it is difficult for them to handle Multiple Holes in the components and simultaneous Forth Axis rotary machining Components.

The existing CAM software which they are using other than the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection is too costly and they need to pay for additional add-ins to open the different CAD systems.

After the initial meeting with the customer, Autodesk Solution Provider ImageGrafix proposed OSC to use the Fusion 360 Machining Extension to overcome the current issues with CNC programming.

After the implementation of the Fusion 360 Machining Extension along with Fusion 360 CAM, the Customer finds it is very easy for programming the parts in Fusion 360 using the Machining Extension.

It takes lesser time to program the jobs involving multiple hole drilling using the hole recognition option and four axis simultaneous rotary machining.

Business outcome

OSC can now program their complex multi-axis machine jobs using the Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM solution with the Machining Extension option easily.

Programming time has been significantly reduced compared with their existing CAM software.

Total cost spent for programming also reduced dramatically.

Finally, the team is now able to work with multiple CAD models without depending on additional add-ins.

Conclusion

The OSC CNC Programming Division is now successfully using the Fusion 360 Machining Extension for their programming needs and the team has reduced their total cost for programming and reduced the programming time for components.

Construction Project Management Software - Implementation

The consortium needs to select a Construction Project Management platform that will be used for the construction of a Iconic Government Building in Dubai. The platform should be capable to handle unlimited data storage, different design file formats and useful for sharing, collaboration, coordination and handover stage.

Supporting in selection & implementation of a CDE

The JV needs to Design, Build with options for maintenance of the facilities of the main rail depot. The JV group wanted to select a CDE platform, so that all the companies part of the JV, Architect, Consultants and Subcontractors can collectively collaborate and share the information. Managing and sharing data is a huge challenge between different locations. With the work being carried out at a different location/countries, it was difficult for individuals to share their data, document controller to monitor progress, reviews, issues, etc.

BIM Implementation

Metito is a global leader and provider of choice for total intelligent water management solutions with operations covering three business areas: design and build, specialty chemicals, and utilities. Based on the recent government BIM mandates on public and private projects, Metito began thinking of implementing BIM and making themselves ready for the future.
