Success Story

Common Data Environment for Construction

Common Data Environment for Construction

Customer challenge

Dawood Contracting LLC was awarded a major project in Oman as a main contractor. Due to the importance of the project and stakeholders involved, the information had to be distributed and visible to the different parties as needed. The client recognized the importance of efficient data management. Therefore, they chose Autodesk BIM 360 Build as a Common Data Environment (CDE).

Project goals

The main goal was to use a single platform as a CDE (Common Data Environment) for the project, while using Autodesk solutions. Team communication, key workflows, issues on site and collaboration between consultants and contractor had to be captured in the platform.

Solution

Dawood Contracting LLC worked with Accienta professional services to successfully implement Autodesk BIM 360 Build as the Common Data Environment for this important project. Our services provided the structure, configuration, and training to digitize the collaboration, design review process per discipline and project issues on site.

Business outcome

Accienta professional services provided the client with a unified folder structure and appropriate permissions based on Company, Role and key workflows. One of the main business outcomes regarding collaboration was the project transparency when it comes to key workflows like the design review process between consultant and contractor. Now these workflows are captured in Autodesk BIM 360 having each step, responsible party, and dates are always visible in the system. Autodesk BIM 360 also helped decrease time consumed in sharing/commenting/updating files as well as issue tracking on site.

Conclusion

This Autodesk implementation was performed fully remote due to Covid restrictions. The services provided were customized to the client-specific requirements and in collaboration with the project consultants as well. This is a comment received from the client: “Would highly recommend Carolina as Set-up & role-out admin for Autodesk Bim 360”
