Customer challenge

Multotec provides an essential service to the SA mining industry. Multotec was urgently called on to deliver and install mill liners for a platinum mine client during lockdown. Their challenge was to ensure the different departments producing design work on the same projects could collaborate without overriding information. Through close collaboration with Technocad Inisys, Multotec were introduced to the benefits of Autodesk’s Vault Professional to find an optimal business solution.

Project goals

Multotec had three key goals in mind: 1) Find new workflow processes to eliminate rework of an existing design. 2) Implement a system that allows the design draughtsman to work from the same project file. 3) Identify areas within the current production management workflow where cost-saving practices could be implemented without loss of operational efficiency.

Solution

After consulting and review of their business needs, Technocad Inisys quickly identified what was required and set up a full time Application Engineer on site to support the Multotec team with their Data Management in conjunction with Inventor Pro drawings. By implementing Vault Pro and setting up the projects required for the different departments within the Multotec Group, Technocad Inisys was able to offer Multotec an organisational design system that improved their product delivery.

Business outcome

Multotec’s technical teams have effectively been able to work remotely, and have completed projects such as new mill liner designs, design reviews, completing and signing off design changes (which often get put at the back of the queue when a production job takes priority). By using Autodesk Vault Pro. and Autodesk Inventor Pro. they have been able to work remotely, reduce rework, work as a team and work within the ISO 9001 requirements to reach their targets despite the Covid-19 lockdown.
