This class will present case studies of inventive Building Information Modeling (BIM) approaches adopted by 2 very different facility owners. Each one pushed beyond incremental BIM adoption to rethink workflows, develop BIM object libraries, and transform project processes. See results of their efforts presented from theoretical and practical perspectives. A large healthcare facilities owner integrates BIM libraries and standards throughout the project lifecycle. Their BIM library objects embody design requirements; data management protocols; local/global best practice standards to improve reliability and efficiency of BIM for design, delivery, and facility management with support; and additional capabilities such as 3D stereoscopic viewing, way-finding, and seamless data-sharing with facilities management (FM) applications. An international developer/operator shifts the focus of BIM organization from component-type hierarchies to elements representing installation and construction processes as performed on site, informing better cost and prefabrication analysis.

As a building owner or operator, it is necessary to have reliable, organized information to effectively respond to a portfolio's growing space, maintenance, and energy requirements. Unfortunately, most facilities were built prior to the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM), and for the few that do have models, there are often barriers that prevent the retrieval and sharing of this information. This class will discuss the facility datafication process developed by CASE to help owners generate the data they need to optimally manage their buildings. By aligning information technology with operational processes and advanced Revit software techniques, owners and operators are enabled to effectively communicate and collaborate through a model-based Building Information Solution. This course will also discuss the integration of third-party software and customizations to enhance the datafication process, increase informed decision-making, and optimize the performance of a building portfolio.

The global market for computing power is increasing exponentially, and the biggest challenge the industry faces is how to deliver the required physical infrastructure fast enough to keep up. For data center owners and operators—many of whom are the largest companies in the world—it is a strategic imperative that they find new ways to accelerate how they plan, design, construct, operate, and optimize their data center facilities. Autodesk provides a range of products that owners and operators can use to help meet these objectives, but they're rarely used in a fully integrated manner throughout the life of a data center. In this session, Gafcon Digital (an Accenture company) will demonstrate how Autodesk products are being deployed on behalf of data center owners and operators for a variety of processes throughout the lives of their facilities, showcasing the use of Autodesk applications (such as Revit software, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Autodesk Tandem software) and platforms.

This discussion will focus on CREFTS' (Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety, & Security) BIM 360 Ops internal Autodesk deployment, and offer a glimpse from concept to deployment across the Autodesk portfolio. We'll review the steps taken-from planning, pilot, and deployment-and discuss our pathway to success and how we're using BIM 360 Ops software from projects to building operations. We'll share best practices, insight into rollout, and a glimpse of where we're heading with automation and machine learning.

What use would a tire company have for construction management software? We had to ask ourselves that same question at first. Unlike most who work in Autodesk Construction Cloud, we aren't paying our bills through the construction of buildings; we're investing in the buildings. We manage the entire project lifecycle of our facilities from conception to operations. Tires are our product, but we need a place to build those tires. We need to maintain that facility, manage our assets, and, most importantly, we need to transform our manufacturing footprint. All of these things need to happen, all while product continues to flow out the door. We produce tires despite the building process, we don't build despite the production of our products. We hope to share a different perspective of how an owner and operator takes advantage of Autodesk Construction Cloud and the rest of Autodesk's portfolio to make a successful process.

As a new player in the electric vehicle market, Rivian Automotive needs to move fast. In addition to building a new product line of electrics trucks, SUVs and delivery vans they need to build the facilities infrastructure to support. This includes an array of new office space TIs, service centers, factory additions, charging and new retail spaces. To accomplish this goal Rivian used the ACC platform to collaborate with all design and construction partners and internal stakeholders. By running all projects on one common data platform it provides our project teams with an invaluable data set as an owner and operator, creating new opportunities to optimize project delivery. The Infrastructure Symposium general session includes the welcome address, the highlights on a few key projects, the presentation of the 2014 Excellence in Infrastructure winners, and an overview of the symposium sessions to follow. The symposium provides peer-networking opportunities across owner/operators and the network of engineering, design, and construction firms focused on supporting infrastructure projects and managing asset lifecycles. In this class, we will present multiple case studies on how petroleum refineries have implemented AutoCAD P&ID software as part of environmental compliance projects to achieve a reduction in actual and reported VOC and HAP emissions. We will cover a stepwise workflow process for owner-operators and engineering, procurement, and construction firms to follow, engaging various plant disciplines, including CAD, engineering, and environmental and safety, that are favorably affected by this workflow. Specifically, the case study will share a process for using data-driven drawings to achieve improved compliance with environmental and safety regulations. According to GRESB's 2022 data (the global ESG benchmark for real-estate financial products), 2025 is the estimated average expiration date for the market attractiveness of offices worldwide in terms of meeting CRREM (Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor) energy efficiency standards. In other words, as we move toward net-zero emissions by 2050, the market value of a building that does not achieve the required energy efficiency rating is likely to decrease. It's vital the building sector adopts circular economy principles, moving away from the linear "take, make, dispose" model toward a more sustainable and regenerative approach that prioritizes resource efficiency, reuse, and recycling. Digital twins support the operational phase of a building and develop into digital logbooks, which is crucial at end of life because its help ensure safe and sustainable decommissioning/repurposing, preserves valuable information, and supports compliance with regulations and standards.

FM:Systems® Building Information Modeling (BIM) integration software enables architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), and facilities professionals to connect Revit®-based software models to a cloud-based system to help them manage space, plan maintenance, and more. This class explores the opportunity for AEC professionals and building owners and operators to partner on a BIM lifecycle approach to managing facilities. We demonstrate how to create and maintain a live bidirectional integration between Revit software and the FM:BIM cloud-based system. We explore how AEC professionals can work more closely with building owners to develop BIM guidelines, workflows, and methods of integrating Revit models into a full BIM lifecycle. Finally, we discuss setting up a model in Revit, including defining rooms, spaces, and assets and publishing facility plans from Revit into FM:BIM.

The architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is often put in the position to create engineering designs for several utility-related workflows. This design and engineering work is often done using Civil 3D software and is delivered as a stand-alone project via a set of design drawings. In many instances, the utility owner\operator takes that as-built data and drops it on a file server never to be seen again until it is needed. This transactional approach creates technical debt that places a burden on the utility and threatens the overall sustainability of the process. This instructional demo will work through a new way of supporting a sustainable collaboration and delivery model that aligns with the way of working preferred by owners and operators. Through the Autodesk \ Esri Alliance Partnership, we will illustrate some existing new methods to unlock the full value of a Civil 3D design drawing to populate and append an Esri ArcGIS Utility Network model that will support future design and engineering work in a sustainable manner.

Water infrastructure owners and operators face poor asset information handover due to system misalignment. Could Automation, Integration, & Customization and integrated data enable Digital Prototypings to support operational efficiency, reduce rework and costs, and improve health and safety (H&S)?
