This class will present a workflow for effectively using the simulation tools in Inventor Professional software. The class highlights top Inventor software simulation tips, ways to solve real-life design problems with the Inventor Professional software simulation tools, and additional guidance to make you an expert in only 60 minutes. After this class you will be able to apply the Inventor software simulation capabilities more effectively so that you make better designs.

Utilizing the Frame Generator within Inventor Professional software, we will open a machine support structure to demonstrate an improved workflow for design. First we will suppress the machine model elements and then we’ll modify the frame to show how to improve timeliness of the analysis. Next we will perform a quick frame study within Inventor Professional software for the natural frequency and stress analysis. Then we will push the model directly to Robot Structural Analysis software to do some advanced analysis and loading. Finally, we will discuss optimization of the support structure. Throughout the presentation the discussion will focus on how to design a “stout” structure while not wasting time or material. This workflow will prove to be repeatable and efficient back at the office.

This class will demonstrate how to prepare your custom standard content for use with Inventor software’s Content Center. The Content Center can be a very useful and necessary tool for working with Frame Generator, Tube and Pipe, and Bolted Connections, among others. We will demonstrate how to author and publish pipe, pipe fittings, fasteners, structural shapes, and equipment such as pumps and heat exchangers.

Talking about a topic is one thing, seeing it is something else. This class will be a live demonstration of some of the key things to know about working with Inventor Tube & Pipe. I will demonstrate getting into the Tube & Pipe environment, set up a tube & pipe style, create a pipe assembly, add pipe runs and create pipe routes in them. I will then populate those routes using various tube & pipe styles. I will also edit and even break some of these routes to show ways of fixing things when your plan inevitably falls apart. The techniques shown will be those I use every day, but may not be the only correct methods.

In addition, learn how you can use Inventor software’s API and the .NET Framework to create much more powerful rules. In this class, I run through the pros and cons and workflows for creating simulations in all 3 of the Inventor Professional software simulation tools. I highlight which tool is best to use and when, while also explaining the differences and comparing the results.

Autodesk Fusion 360 software has rapidly arrived in deeply integrated Vault and Inventor enterprise environments. Entire departments and suppliers often strategically align their complete designs in Autodesk Fusion 360. The new challenge for CAD managers is to find ways to integrate Autodesk Fusion 360 data into Inventor data managed in Vault Professional software. This class will focus on collaborative ways to complement Vault-managed Inventor data sets with Autodesk Fusion 360 designs. Given the growing Autodesk Fusion 360 usage and the existence of complex Fusion data sets, we’ll also cover the Inventor integration into Autodesk Fusion 360.

Reverse engineering is an essential part of product development process. Whether you are a designer doing benchmark or retrofitting an older design, you need to work with incomplete data. Digesting the incomplete data and changing it into useful model geometry is a science and an art. Generally, most CAD tools have provided some capabilities to enable varying levels of reverse engineering. Inventor 2017 software particularly offers quite a few workflows to help the reverse engineering process. It enables the users to obtain high-fidelity results. Regardless of the formats of the source data (2D or 3D), these workflows provide interesting opportunities. This class will introduce various workflows and techniques with real-world examples. The attendees will get a better understanding of these workflows and learn how to tackle future reverse engineering tasks with ease. If you’re an Inventor software user interested in learning how to automate your design process using the Inventor software API (application programming interface), this class is designed specifically for you. The class will act as a guide, giving those with no programming or automation experience a road map to success for working with the Inventor software API. For simplicity, this class will focus on programming with the Inventor software API directly in the iLogic interface, and we will identify the resources available for new users to develop their programming skills. The course will provide students with the tools to learn, including how to program in VB.NET, how to use the API and API Help, where to find sample programs, how to debug API programs within the iLogic interface, and where to seek individual help. The course will give students the information and confidence they need to develop the skills necessary to quickly begin programming their own Inventor software customizations. We are inviting you to this participatory research session to innovate and shape the future of Inventor software—and really enhance your productivity. We will use several LUMA methods to facilitate our discussions. The class will begin with a “What’s on Your Radar” practice to help attendees discuss Inventor software problems and assign them with weights. Then attendees will generate wide-ranging ideas on those pieces with no constraints in a Creative Matrix practice given a short amount of time. We’ll pick some of the ideas combining with our own preprepared ideas for a “Buy a Feature” practice to identify the most valuable areas for the Inventor Team to focus on. The Inventor UX Team will facilitate the entire session. Attendees need only to free their minds and speak out what the ideal Inventor software could be.
