How does Building Information Modeling (BIM) help architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms extend the services they provide to their clients? This class will look at how Jacobs used BIM on the £350M+ London Blackfriars station project that spans the Thames River in Central London. You will learn about the innovative additional services that they were able to provide to their client Network Rail, constructor Balfour Beatty, and stakeholders and see examples of services that are simply impossible with traditional 2D workflows. The class aims to show how your firm can extend the range of services that it can provide to clients by using BIM. The class will also look at how BIM was used to keep an overground station open with trains passing through during its construction period (nine phases of interim stations) while the London Underground district and circle lines continued to operate under the site. The class will demonstrate how real-time BIM viewing, using Autodesk® Navisworks® software, and planning brought benefits to many stakeholders who had never worked on a BIM-enabled project before.

The City of Madison Engineering Division was faced with the sunset of legacy software vital to its operations. This class will tell the story of how we improved change orders to construction projects (our most complicated process) through the use of cloud software. Autodesk Construction Cloud was our primary tool, but we quickly realized the benefits of automations through Autodesk Platform Services and Workato. City staff, Autodesk, and our consultant Team D3 provided valuable support and insights throughout this team effort. This class will specifically demonstrate how you can import form data to Cost Management, how document templates save tedious data entry, how review and communications stay in the platform, and how change orders to the contract are digitally approved.

Everything you need to know about BIM and firestop within a large project. How to design, coordinate and maintain firestop locations. This case study will showcase Hilti’s BIM Services at the PennFIRST Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. We partnered with the customer to improve their workflows and allow the installation process to match the BIM model. Before this, the customer had no way of tracking the product usage and productivity until the end of the project. With such a large IPD project, the customer wanted a new approach to their processes. We have provided services that include modeling the firestop locations based on the UL System matrix, uploading the model to BIM360 Glue, annotating the locations by floor and producing shop drawings. Attendees will gain the knowledge of a growing standard of care in the construction industry.
