Autodesk manufacturing customers have a wide range of options for creating rendered images of their designs. This class will give an overview of product and capabilities available to PDMC customers and users within the manufacturing design space, and why and where you would use each one to best effect.

In this session, we’ll look at different strategies for visualizing your design data with Autodesk technology. Utilizing the Large Model Viewer, Inventor Studio, Fusion 360 software, 3ds Max software, Autodesk Rendering in the cloud, and VRED software, you’ll gain a good understanding of where each of these software systems have their strengths and application within industry, and where they can complement each other.

This class provides answers to at least the following questions: How many cloud credits do I need for my renderings? What are sun study, panorama, and illumination renderings? What is the alpha channel option for? Why does my background image not show up or why is it displaced? How can I download cloud renderings? Is there an offline viewer for panorama renderings? How can I share my renderings without sending them by email? We address these and other rendering questions.

Autodesk 3ds Max software has more out-of-the-box rendering options than any other digital content creation (DCC) software available today. In this class, Autodesk Senior Technical Specialist Gary M. Davis explores these different solutions and examines when and why users might choose to use the mental ray®, NVIDIA® iRay®, and Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2012 Quicksilver and Scanline rendering engines. The class also explores uses that combine multiple renderers for more complex workflows.

This class will help to demystify mental ray rendering and present it in a simple way. The class will review seven different design workflows that users will face when rendering with mental ray. It is targeted at Autodesk 3ds Max Design software users who have a good understanding of the 3ds Max Design interface and basic understanding of rendering and photorealistic rendering workflows. This is a rerun class from last year's AU.

Fusion 360 software is a powerful CAD software system, and one of its most powerful capabilities is the Autodesk Rendering environment. This class will cover how to achieve impressive, photo-realistic renderings. Topics will include everything from basic layout and composition to best practices for using materials, lighting, and environment effects. While this class will focus on examples of product design within Fusion 360 software’s rendering environment, the ideas described can be applied to any rendering situation and any rendering program. Compelling renderings are a key tool for successful storytelling of designs and concepts to a wide audience. This class will help you achieve rendering awesomeness.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) has been a buzzword in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry for years—and yet the construction industry as a whole has been slow to adopt the BIM process. In this session, we will investigate the software and processes used by a single construction company to deliver powerful services to our owners, consultant teams, and trade partners. Learn how to integrate technologies such as 4D scheduling/animations, 3D laser scanning, virtual reality mockups, and 360-degree cameras into your projects—improving overall communication and coordination. This presentation will discuss Revit software, ReCap software, Navisworks software, and Autodesk Rendering, with examples of projects that used virtual design from start to finish, as well as projects that benefited from BIM in select areas of the project. The session will summarize a construction company’s BIM journey from BIM-free to BIM as often as possible, on all stages of a project.

Esri's MapLibre GL JS software development kit (SDK) brings ArcGIS power to open-source maps: feature layers, vector tiles, terrain, geocoding, spatial analysis, and routing. Now add the Autodesk Platform Services Viewer rendering intelligent models directly into that same canvas. It's a match made in heaven for construction and asset management. This session will show how Esri and Autodesk are converging on MapLibre to deliver unified AEC-GIS experiences. Esri demonstrates their SDK's visualization and analysis POIs, feature styling, elevation, and basemaps while Autodesk fuses Revit models into the scene via shared WebGL rendering with synchronized cameras. Together, we build a complete construction-site intelligence view: geospatial context meets BIM precision, in about 300 lines of code.

Autodesk 360 cloud rendering is now available for 3ds Max 2016 software. In this demonstration you will learn the step-by-step process of sending your renders to the cloud. We will discuss best practices and scene preparation in 3ds Max software, as well as Autodesk 360 rendering settings. If you’ve been using cloud rendering in Revit software, then many of these steps in 3ds Max software should be familiar to you. This might be a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the 3ds Max software environment. For the purely 3ds Max users, we will cover the benefits and limitations of Autodesk 360 cloud-computing platform so you have a better understanding of the cloud and how you can capitalize on its power in your workflow.

Most real-time rendering programs that let you bring in your Revit projects show amazing graphics-however, they are limited to one "moment" in time and therefore capture only a near-static project with very little physics or interaction-until now. With Autodesk Live (Revit software's real-time rendering viewer) and a little spice from the Stingray game engine, your projects will become living, breathing buildings as they were meant to be. And it's possible to easily add "the extra spice," such as moving elevators, people, and medical equipment, and supporting vehicle construction equipment. In this class, attendees will learn to use the real-time rendering of Autodesk Live, and learn how to bring Revit models into it. Also, attendees will learn how to bring Autodesk Live models into Stingray to add that extra spice to projects by using real-time rendering and real-time physics.

Rendering Autodesk VRED scenes can result in Open EXR sequences that require manual handling before they can be used in Autodesk Flame. This creates delays, inconsistencies, and avoidable errors in high-end commercial finishing workflows. This session will discuss example pipelines using both VRED and Flame Python tools to render Open EXR sequences from VRED and ingest them into Flame as clips. We will cover render jobs, structuring output, managing naming, and simplifying Flame imports. You should leave with a repeatable, production-ready workflow that reduces manual ingest and connects visualization to finishing with speed and reliability.

With its outstanding modelling tool set, Autodesk Maya software is well suited for concept modelling in many industries. Arnold renderer now ships with Maya 2017 as standard so we will cover some of the impressive physically based shader presets such as car paint.

Do you want to create professional-looking renderings? Learn how to convert your 3D AutoCAD models into finished, photorealistic renderings using tools already built into AutoCAD software. In this class, you learn how to use lighting, material, and rendering tools in AutoCAD to place and control lights, add and adjust materials and textures, and control the surrounding model environment to produce eye-catching images. You see how to take real-world objects and quickly create custom materials, and produce reusable models of light fixtures that behave like real-world lights. You also see how to take full advantage of the Autodesk® 360 cloud-based rendering service to create beautiful renderings quickly and easily, and even produce rendered animations entirely inside AutoCAD.

You know how to render, but sometimes you don’t get the results you want. Are you missing that final touch? How helpful would it be if you could change materials and lighting of your rendering without rendering it again? This class will walk you through the process of visualizing architecture inside Forma Building Design Suite 2013—a process that includes linking and opening Autodesk® Revit® and AutoCAD® software models into Autodesk® 3ds Max® Design software, generating renderings and render elements inside 3ds Max Design and combining these render elements into 3ds Max Composite 2013 software so you can have full control of your rendering post-production phase. Learn tips and tricks to reduce the rendering time and get the best results.

In this class the attendees will see the workflow used for taking results from Autodesk, Inc.'s, simulation products to its Media & Entertainment products (Showcase software, 3ds Max software, and VRED software) for high-end visualization, rendering, and video production.
