Description
How do you turn an intelligent model into a lever for real environmental performance? At the Chabanne office, we developed a suite of custom Revit plug-ins directly connected to live environmental databases (INIES/RE2020). This enabled our teams to query material carbon data, track biosourced ratios, and monitor energy indicators directly inside the model in real time. This outcome-based BIM helped us across different projects especially Thoiry's Kindergarten to reach Passivhaus-level energy needs, exceed the RE2020 2028 carbon threshold, and achieve 1.5 times the Level 3 biosourced label. Through Autodesk Platform Services, plug-ins, Autodesk Forma, Forma Site Design, Forma Building Design, Model Context Protocol (MCP), API, and AI, the intelligent model turned into a decision-making engine for our whole team.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to build a custom Revit plug-in in C# that queries live environmental databases (INIES) directly from the intelligent model.
- Learn how outcome-based BIM workflows close the gap between design intent and measurable environmental performance.
- Learn how to integrate AI assistants into BIM development cycles to accelerate plug-in creation and environmental data analysis.
- Learn about a real project's RE2020 and carbon results directly from Revit model data.
